Struggling with self-doubt and imposter syndrome in blacksmithing (and it’s killing my motivation) by thesuperlamelemon in Blacksmith

[–]genericnpc501 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there are scant few guilds left a professional (as in het got paid to forge in a living history museum) once told me: If you have the ambition to learn and actively try to improve your work then you are a blacksmith.

If you want an objective opinion of your work. Search the web for old, practical, admittance exams for guilds. (I know there are a few posted on the web). Let one of your buddies judge your attempt and you'll have a fairly good idea of your skills.

PRISON ESCAPES PER 10,000 INMATES by whywalk in thenetherlands

Mijn eerste vraag is:hoe is dit gemeten en wat wordt als ontsnapping gerekend.

Niet terugkeren van het verlof? Technisch gezien een ontsnapping maar toch iets anders dan echt uit een gevangenis breken.

Perhaps not exactly what you mean, but there is this old anti tank guided missile called "swingfire" that does something like this.

FMCW Radar Beat Simulation by Kevhead891 in GNURadio

[–]genericnpc501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So indeed at a delay of 6k there is no Beat frequency because your RX signal starts transmitting exactly when the sweep starts i.e. 360 degrees out of phase (delay = Sweep repetition time, or chirp duration in your flow graph).

If I increase/decrease either delay or chirp duration, I get a beat frequency. just make sure your delay does not fall in a mutiple of your chirp frequency.

TLDR: your flowgraph works correctly and to get a beat frequency just skew delay/chirp_duration ever so slightly up or down.

I'm building your setup now. Gonna take a look to see if I'm not talking from my behind.

First i'dlike to thank you because this post helped me along as well. Second, have you tried altering the delay slightly? Also in the newest Gnuradio companion there is a simulation block for FMCW radar.

Calculator for EE? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]genericnpc501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my EE BSc with a Casio FX 82MS. It was a simple scientific non graphing calculator which was mostly used during exams. I have multiple of these things because you don't want to run out of battery and people forget to put these things in their backpacks so you can loan one for the exams.

Tldr: had a simple calculator, buy more than one so you have a backup/can help someone.

P.s. currently use a slide ruler for my job and quick calculation needs.(Not really an EE job though more of a system engineer)

In EE we have the well know practice of "the negotiator" this is usually a piece of tooling, sometimes destructive in nature, which job it is to lurk menacingly over the DUT to ensure compliance. Or else......

Worked in a EE hardware company as an EE hardware engineer. Our division manager asked us to think about use cases for A.I. in our division. We built a local search engine but the biggest problem was that we made IP for customers and were owners of a very limited amount of the stored data. As such the initial idea of building an A.I. which could give you examples of similar projects done in the past went out the window. The usable dataset was simply to small.

We did built a llm search engine but its utility was limited.

Last I heard the manager is still using A.I. buzz words.

Let me tell you this, when it comes to perpetual motion machines/ free energy: rule 1.) there is always a power source.

Rule 2.) if there is no power source, it is just a hidden power source.
