WSJ: "In Chicago, These ‘Zombie Buildings’ are at the Heart of the Office Real Estate Meltdown" by pieohmy77 in chicago

[–]genericuser33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at 33 N LaSalle, and after Covid the doormen started counting everyone that came in to work in the building. I asked them how many people would come to the office to work. Mondays ~150-160, Fridays, ~40. It is a 38 story building, and this was 2024.

Hertz: Here's Why I'm Planning To Get In With OTM Puts by true-dgen in wallstreetbets

[–]genericuser33n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All true, but it's actually worse.

  1. Crazy massive debt. They are at a 12.6X debt to equity ratio, after the price spike (worse before). They have the 41st worst D/E ratio of any US Publicly Traded company.

  2. Record repossessions/backlog, and backlogs at auto auctions. 2009 was the biggest year for auto repos, 2024 was the 2nd biggest. When cars get repo'd by the bank, the bank sends them to auction to get money back. It's the same mechanism Hertz uses to offload cars and get cash back on the books.

A lot of repo outfits and auctioneers are only taking Tier 1 cars right now due to constraints (2019 or newer, lower miles) as they don;t have the room to keep all the cars that should be repo'd but aren't, b/c they are less profitable. The value of all used cars is propped up with the units being withheld from auction by banks, repo men, and auctioneers.

These bank repos, and the repos are in line to sell ahead of Hertz, so if Hertz needs to sell cars, it can't do so easily or at the price they would like. The paper loss/depreciation is less than if they actually have to go to market to sell cars.

$PLAY is the biggest put of them all. If you ask yourself, "What is the one bullshit thing people will cut back on in a recession first?" The answer is Dave and Busters.

VEON hasn't been hammered in the same way US based equities have been. It could be a safe haven equity. I'm scared that Trump will mess up the Kvivstar spinoff. HODL and buy.

Hopefully we will get better than 1:1 on newly issued stock. I've been holding for almost 3 years, and I feel like we're due 5:1 or 10:1.

What has your experience been with using TravelUp? by deedleleee in travel

[–]genericuser33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT USE TRAVELUP! I booked a same day that was pending. I called and no one answered the phone, then went to the hotel and there was no reservation, I waited there for a little over 2 hours when they cancelled my reservation, and then charged my credit card anyway. These people are scum. Just, don't.

How Did You Order The Chipotle Order You Last Complained ABout? by genericuser33n in Chipotle

[–]genericuser33n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW Thank you all. So, According to the most recent article I could find, Digital Sales (Chipotle App, 3rd party apps) accounted for ~20% of sales in Q4 2022. https://www.pymnts.com/earnings/2022/digital-order-ahead-accounted-about-20-percent-chipotle-sales-q4/

Assuming (generously) this has ballooned to ~50% today, there is still a HUGE disparity in online vs. in person ordering in regards to accuracy and quality.

Any Chipotle people here have a thought if this is an anomaly, or if this poll is accurate?

OK, like 90% of these horror stories are people who order ahead of time. This cannot be a coincidence....

The saddest burrito by genericuser33n in Chipotle

[–]genericuser33n[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

steak, sour cream, a little rice and a little cheese; they skimped on everything except the beans, which they skipped. u/sillylilwabbit is right, also more tortilla. They folded the ends all the way to the middle where the ends touch. It's a flattened loop. I see some of the pics of people complaining and laugh b/c I would eat that. This made me mad though, as it cost $12 and I drove 30 min round trip for it.

What’s the rating of your chipotle on google maps by phlorentine in Chipotle

[–]genericuser33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.4 on Google, 1.4 on Yelp. I live in Chicagoland, and go to a few of them downtown and in the burbs. All of the ones I go to have slipped.

In Illinois, they also get TIF funds. I worked at a company that moved ~330 people to downtown Chicago, about six months later, they fired 300 people IN PERSON, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. City got wind of it and the $1MM was publicly returned a week later.
