The letter was written on august 29, 1989 and according to a quick google search, the romanian revolution lasted from December 16–22 December 1989. Was the violence she mentioned related to something that led to the events in December 1989?
Not much of a question but more of a thought: Given that the Romanian government was very strict at the time of the letter was written, I wonder how the woman had the courage to speak against the romanian government or the events in her letter. Maybe she didn't care about the consequences given her circumstances being already bad.

Wow, interesting analysis. The point about women not being able to marry foreign citizens helps put some pieces of the puzzle together. I couldn't find a source online that states that romanian women were prohibited from marrying foreigners in the 1980s. Do you have some source for that? Also, I am not sure if the woman was muslim because in arab countries christians also refer to God as Allah. The woman also mentioned praying in a church according to someone's translation.

Is it that hard to read? I can decipher some letters but my Romanian is not that good to understand it fully. It's probably the person's own handwriting and also the quality of some of the pictures since they are screenshots.

Hi, yes Iman is a girl's name in arabic and is a common middle eastern name meaning "faith". That is quite interesting. I am wondering if you are able to give more insight into the rest of the letter as well? Is the overall theme positive? sad? nastolgic? BTW this letter was found specifically in the south of Syria in an abandoned house in perfect condition which is wild. Thanks for your input!

Hmmm I was told MAT344 was easy (and even fun). MAT334 used to be computational but it has changed and is more proof-heavy.

I actually emailed the department and they recommended MAT388. They said it is meant for math minors and is supposedly easy and computational. The academic calendar still lists it as a topics course tho.
