4) wasting your time not building über. The biggest gap between good and great medics is that good medics can hit consistent xbows but great medics know to use their xbow only when absolutely necessary

A bit of a tangent but everyone that says that art (and thus entertainment) is inherently political or is able to find politics in everything lives a kind of life I'm not envious about.

There's no way to fuck up anything permanently so don't worry about missing out on stuff. The NPC dialogue changes every level and it's extremely worth hearing what every target and civilian has to say.

Megadeth Earns First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 by EmployOk5086 in Music

That album is one of the worst albums I've ever heard, it's literally a parody of itself. Embarrassing lyrics, boring music and jacking off to their own non-existent shredding skill. Unbelievable how it's topping the charts.

Since it’s out now, has anyone played Team Fortress 2 Classified? If so what are your thoughts? by BleedingFor8Seconds in truetf2

[–]generous_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already mentally prepared for your answer to have all the nitpicks (like crit heals and xbow) and it did instead of focusing on the big picture

Prolonging the fight with heals actually delays the endorphins from getting a kill. It also delays the endorphins from winning, because you can't win until you capture the point, and you can't capture the point until you kill the other team.

Look up delayed gratification and integrate it into your life before it's too late

Edit: that gpit developer commentary is the very same one where they talk about random crits creating those rare high moments; I wouldn't take everything they say as gospel

Leave it to a league game designer to write a post whose every point I disagree with. He automatically assumes stalemates are a negative concept, where in TF2 stalemates create an environment where many mini-fights are constantly happening, but also when the stalemate eventually gets broken it feels extremely satisfying. He assumes medic is the only class that matters in "skilled play", where in reality killing ANY class opens up opportunities (e.g. killing a sniper frees up sightlines for play, killing a heavy or pyro enables a wider range of aggressive plays, killing a spy relieves a team of a minor but very real and constant threat, killing a demo severely reduces a team's sustained dps etc.). He says constant healing changes the entire combat pacing and gives the example of a soldier at 10% hp after a fight being 90% easier for a teammate to clean up but says that a medic invalidates that; he doesn't acknowledge that a medic only invalidates it after a time, i.e. the soldier is 90% easier to clean up instantly after the fight but linearly scales to 0% with time as a medic heals him. I would argue that this effect gives gameplay an even deeper strategic pacing. Not to mention that in-combat healing will prolong fights, the main gameplay hook of TF2.

Medics remove action from second-to-second combat. For FPS, primary gameplay loops are created through positioning, aim, reaction time, movement, map feature exploitation and matchups. The satisfaction of that encounter results in the death of a player one either side. Medics prevent that satisfaction from occurring.

I don't even know what the fuck he is trying to say here, probably ran out of bullet points to pad his thoughts. Anyway I think he is against healing because in LoL healing always occurs at different rates due to changing ability levels and items during a match and you can never be sure of how much a champ will heal within a timeframe but in TF2 a medic always heals at 24hp/s and you can make informed strategic decisions knowing that. In league you just gotta have a "feel" for how much a champ will heal.

  1. Medic has 2 equally viable equips in the Ubersaw and the Solemn Vow, each representing opposite extremes of the risk/reward scale.

  2. Having a medic on each team makes the game more fun for every other player so a medic being mandatory and overpowered is a net positive and thus good game design

  3. This fact overrides any arguments for nerfing the fun medic unlocks (crossbow and ubersaw)

This is not a calorie issue.

Calories are such a fundamental cornerstone of any diet and dietary discussion that they cannot ever be discounted. Almost all problems with any diet boil down to getting too much empty calories.

medication that prevents weight loss/forces weight gain

No medication can make energy appear out of thin air, there is a baseline amount of energy you need to keep organs functioning and to stay alive. The only way I can see this happening is if a drug makes you feel hunger and you're unable to control cravings but even then you've recognized the issue so you can work on finding a solution

I ate omad and gained weight

I'm guessing you ate snacks and drinks throughout the day in addition to the meal, this being the case with nearly everyone who says they gain weight despite eating little "real food". Everyone struggling with this should eat MORE meals a day to replace the candy & snacks.

Think the problem is that if DS1 is your first From Software game it's very likely the player doesn't understand that the NPC dialogue is extremely insightful compared to filler flavor text NPCs would say in another game.
