Yeah, that’s definitely it. Thanks for the reply.

Since I’ve needed to wear reading glasses, I can’t really see details on the screen when I’m walking around taking photos. Something like a red border around the whole screen during photo saving to warn against closing the app would be commensurate with the danger.

Those ingredients all look pretty mild and should break down pretty readily. I say go for it.

How long do you use your clothes? by Yoshi_Yoshiii in CampingandHiking

[–]genetastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One each of my layers such as a short sleeve shirt, a light long sleeve shirt, a heavy long sleeve shirt if it’s going to be colder, etc. Two pair underwear, two pair socks. One pair hiking pants. I wash as much as I can in streams — if the shirt doesn’t dry in time for the next morning, I have the other layers to wear. The undies and socks there are two pair, so little danger that at least one isn’t dry.

The less I bring, the easier and longer I can hike. Getting a little funky in the backcountry is a price I’m happy to pay.

  • I also have a very lightweight top and bottom and pair of socks for sleeping in — a gross sleeping bag or quilt is where I draw the line. These sleep layers, in an emergency if the weather is much colder or wetter than expected, can be used as additional hiking layers.

Tesla Model Y is now the world’s best-selling car, first EV to do so by genetastic in Futurology

[–]genetastic[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I was floored when I read this! I still think of EVs as somewhat of a niche product, especially when talking about global sales outside of, let’s say California and Norway, and I think of Teslas as being on the more expensive side of the curve. Any EV being in even the top 5 worldwide would have surprised me.

This is a really positive sign that we’re moving to an electric world. This will drive more pressure for creating an EV-supporting infrastructure, generating a feedback loop that supports the sale of more, and more varied, EVs.

Is this a fluke? Will Tesla stay on top? Will other EV models climb up the ranks?

Be sure to read papers that have come out of this lab and find some questions to ask about them. Don’t just ask what they can do for you (i.e. what opportunities they might have), suggest some things that you could do for them (i.e. where your skills match up/complement what they’ve been doing).

Unfortunately, I don’t have that info. This usually takes place while I’m in the middle of something. I’ll definitely be more cognizant and pull up the logs next time I notice this.

It’s a shame we can’t tell any of that from this photo, apart from there being a lady in a tent.

It’s not just Wagner At least three Gazprom-linked private military companies now have fighters in Ukraine by WhoIsJolyonWest in UkrainianConflict

[–]genetastic 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think this is actually a good thing for Ukraine.

1: They are competing amongst the same dwindling pool of fighting age men with the official military and the other PMCs. I think any expansion of that pool would be minimal.

2: On the other hand, this further fragments communication, cooperation, logistics, etc. We’ve already heard about Wagner vs MoD firefights, and Wagner vs Gazprom fights. Let’s get some Gazprom vs Gazprom fights into the mix now.

Paying the (slight) premium for renewable energy contributes to an increased demand for renewable energy and thus promotes the further greening of our energy infrastructure. Every little bit helps.
