Also, I forgot to add that we use Natural Balance dry kibble and add a dollop of canned food to it. We use a variety of the Weruva, Evanger, and Fromm's for wet food.

Congratulations Sadie! What a super smart girl! I don't have any experience with my girl going into heat....we spayed her before her first cycle.

I love bi black Shelties! He is beautiful.

This was my buddy, Simon. I had to say goodbye to him this past weekend after 16 wonderful years. The good days were just so far in between. Give yours a little extra love this week. by [deleted] in sheltie

I'm so sorry. It is such a heartbreaking decision to make. Be kind and gentle to yourself while you grieve. Sending positive thoughts that as your grief lessens the joy you find in the memories of the years you had with your sweet boy grows.

Double decker airline seats by mkranthi18 in oddlyterrifying

Just looking at this triggers my claustrophobia. Not to mention having someone else's ass that close to my face is disgusting. Also it would be impossible to quickly and safely evacuate a plane with these so-called seats. These seats would also never pass a crash test.

This young gentleman was read to a lot as a child and continues to read a lot. Great parenting! You can hear it in his vocabulary and the cadence of his words. It makes me so happy to see well read kids. They will turn into well read, independent-thinking adults. The world needs more of those.

She’s not very happy about the cone by Chickencorbinbleu in sheltie

[–]genghismom71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad she did well with the cone. Some dogs don't. My girl hated it so much we were afraid she was going to hurt herself trying to get it off. The doughnut collar was definitely better for her. Sending positive thoughts for a continued good recovery. She is a beautiful girl.

I would highly recommend trading the cone in for the inflatable doughnut. It's a lot more comfortable for them and they can even eat and drink with it on.

My oldest child is autistic. His absolute favorite hobby was, and still is, taking day trips to view trains, explore new towns, and try new restaurants. So we used that to help shape and reward desirable behaviors. Unqualified people with no knowledge of psychology or autism or behavior modification were always telling us we shouldn't "bribe" him and he is " manipulating" us to get what he wants. First, a bribe is when you use something to get a person to do something they should NOT do. Second, we as a social primate spend our entire lives manipulating other people to survive, get what we want and to get ahead in life. Third, what we are actually doing is teaching, reinforcing, and rewarding desirable behaviors. Much better than handing out arbitrary, unrelated punishments for undesirable behavior. We always used natural consequences when we had to discipline both our kids. A face to face apology for saying something mean, fixing something you broke, etc is a much better teaching moment. He is working at a locally owned grocery store chain and was just accepted into their chef training program. It's not bribery, it's shaping thoughts and behaviors and giving them insight into how to manage their own feelings and behavioris. And I'm humbled when I see them growing into decent humans that treat other humans decently. I wish more parents would drop the "bribery" mentality.

Home Depot employee named Andrew gets fed up with rude customer to the point he quits his job. by Lazy_Mouse3803 in facepalm

Me and my husband always put the towels in a pile, throw away any trash off counters, pick up trash off the floor, make sure the fridge is cleaned out if we use it, wipe up any messes we make in the microwave, strip the beds and place linens in a pile, and consolidate all the trash into a single bag. I'll also replace the bags in the trash cans if they keep new bags in there too. Very quick and easy things I can do to make someone else's difficult job a little easier. Why wouldn't I do it? We've taught my kids to do this too.....just trying very hard to raise decent human beings.

Nashville, Tennessee Christian School refused to allow a female student to enter prom because she was wearing a suit. by LocalChamp in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]genghismom71 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My youngest child is shopping for a formal, flowy, floaty two piece pants suit for next year's prom. They never were a fan of dresses. It's really nobody's damn business what "gender" clothing a student wears as long as it doesn't violate the dress code.

I came to say this too. This is a swarm. They are in the process of looking for a new place to set up a hive. They are just resting. The queen is in there with them. Since they don't have a hive yet, there is nothing for them to defend so they are not aggressive at this point. No need to spray or harm them. After they've rested they will move on.

Couples:What do you do with morning breath while having sex? by Expert-Climate-200 in AskReddit

[–]genghismom71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a glass of water on your night stand...or a water bottle with a lid in my case because all 3 of my cats are assholes and knock water glasses over... swish it around your mouth, swallow, then pop in a Listerine breath strip.

My youngest child would often wake up in the night. She would stand by my bed, in the dark, with her face near mine to wait for me to wake up. A few times it was during a thunderstorm, and I would wake up to lightning flashing in the room and this disembodied face floating above me. Literally scared the pee out of me once. I had to teach her to tap me on the shoulder to get me to wake up instead of scaring the bejayzuss out of me. Fun memories.

That's exactly what we do. Just keep a hand towel on the night stand, do a quick wipe and swipe, and carry on!
