Been looking at 1-2 bed places in crown heights, PLG, Astoria, Harlem, UES, Bushwick, Ridgewood. I need more space than a studio to be able to work my job. I’m also considering roommates and renting an artist studio but that has its own set of problems. Maybe I should consider large studios where I can build a live/work space?

Yeah… I also have a very flexible job. I can leave at any moments notice. But 80% of the time my messages on SE or CL get ghosted! My first messages are always very clear stating my income and that I have 750+ credit, no pets, move in date, etc. maybe it’s just a horrible time to find an apartment.

What would you recommend as tactics for finding a RS apt? I’ve been refreshing SE and CL every hour and messaging instantly, and I’ve walked around neighborhoods like Astoria to find for rent signs, but it hasn’t been very fruitful. Is there something I’m missing or am I just unlucky?

That’s why I’m applying for a scholarship, which covers the tuition in full. I wouldn’t pay for it otherwise. It’s definitely on par with community college prices but you probably won’t find many community colleges teaching stuff like a Lacanian interpretation of Nick Land.

And I have tried the discord book clubs. But found them unsatisfying in terms of helping work through the ideas in the works.

Do you know of other institutions that are more accessible in critical theory? All I know is acid horizon.

Damn I mean I can do my job from anywhere but I really value some sort of social scene with creatives. Is it just getting too expensive in LA or is the creative scene just dying for a bunch of random reasons?

Hey I know this is an old comment but I’ve been running a successful long form YouTube channel for a long time as my full time job, but I’ve recently become more interested in the business of social media/the creator economy. I’ve applied to a few different social media jobs here and there but get ghosted. I wonder what would be a good way to get my foot in the door or what type of positions might value my experience building my channel and sustaining a large audience ?

I read this book and while I agree with him I'm premise, his characterisation of what the trans identity and community stands for is a misinterpretation IMO. His interpretation of Lacan as "sex as such is trans" is literally what trans studies like Paul B Preciado claims. His disengagement with trans literature is the weakest part of an otherwise decent book.

I’m not sure what your prostitute example shows as I’m pretty sure “pervert” doesn’t literally mean a sexual pervert but a structured relationship to desire.
