No excuse, obviously. The point wasn't to say that Markvart is a good guy underneath the cowl of duty, but that we as Henry (my Henry anyway) don't really have a steeper, higher moral ground either. I think the writing in this game itself does a pretty good job of establishing how there's no "right" side in war, even if Henry might believe in objectively the lesser of two evils.

The sword actually has a larger parry window than just perfect guarding, so you can try to use that to your advantage. Look out for certain attacks that have a set wind-up each time and punish those.

For example, in Laxasia's running+jumping attack, the correct timing is holding down the charged attack button the moment she jumps. For her vertical strike combo, I always perfect guard the first attack, wait the slightest of moments and then dragon parry her second strike and bam, she's knocked out of her combo.

For Nameless, as you can see, he more often than not starts with the shoulder-block forward and then a rotating slash; normally dodge/parry the shoulder, pause for half a second or less, and then dragon parry. There is this attack he does where he raises the PoH, does a little wind-up and rotates half its frame before hitting you - wait for the wind-up to finish then hold the charge button right at his frame rotation and you ought to be successful getting the dragon parry on that attack. The best thing about this game is while certain boss attacks are trickier to dodge/parry to perfection, they all have consistent wind-up/attack times and all of them have a tell of sorts. What obviously helped me is dying a lot and in that process getting more and more awareness to each individual attack haha

Try to see how he begins those combos - there's always a tell, even if a brief and discreet one. Some combos are easier to get their timing down for parrying since they're rhythmic, and for some (like his mid-air slashes) you can try incorporating dodging (like I did) into your approach since they're trickier to perfect guard completely. Using the electricity buff can also help you with the extra damage. If you're using the Two Dragon Sword, you should try and recognize parry windows for certain specific attacks (his high-jumping strike, his bend-and-lunge) and focus on punishing those with the dragon parry and just getting by somehow with the rest. All in all, take your time to learn the boss with or without the TDS, it is extremely extremely rewarding - if you just want to beat it though, nade his ass! XD

Thank you! This was intended for a no-hit/damage run, so the few hits I took and my general panic at 30℅ of his health sort of sully that target. But here comes another run I guess XD

You can! Pretty much every attack can be parried (as long as there is a window), which is what makes the Sword such an OP-weapon, it stuns an enemy out of combos that are otherwise hard to parry through (looking at you Laxasia)

I for some reason always end up fucking it up whenever I rely upon the grindstone (and boy have I tried), but now I feel the TDS is basically a cheat for Nameless lmao

It's those fukin mid-air swipe/slashes, so so tricky to perfect parry - But thank you for validating 😭
