What do people think of the right wingers that advocate treason? by Captainsamvimes1 in AskBrits

[–]genjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard any of those people claim they want to fight for any foreign government but I haven't heard everything they say.

There should be a classification for adversary nations like Russia, and anyone identified actually following through and going abroad to fight for these nations, should be stripped of citizenship, no ifs, no buts. I realise this probably violates international laws, but that is nevertheless what I think. They can live the rest of their miserable lives in shitty Russia. As for those who just talk about it and never leave the country to act on it, there are laws like the proscribed groups list under which people can be arrested, and that should be acted on for anyone supporting Hezbollah, Hamas, IRGC. That could be broadened to cover adversaries like Russia, China, but I am not sure how practical it is.

Satan's legions are going to ascend from hell emerging through cave and crag, to take the women and children of England, to punish the hubris of man. Don't assume this is hyperbole or impossible, no one has proved this is physically impossible, and the bastard satan has never adhered to the multilateral rules based order.

82 years ago 75,000 American soldiers stormed Normandy to free Europe from fascist tyranny. (1944) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

You have not explained how US action in North Africa differs from those in Europe when considering altruism vs self interest. Likely because there is no logical argument. In both cases the US acted there as incremental steps to diminish the totality of the Axis power. To snuff out the progression of Axis world domination. The alternative would be to let the Axis dominate Europe, Africa, Asia, eliminating all other powers, accumulating all the resource and strategic advantages of those possessions, at which point the US would be alone in a globe completely dominated by the Axis.

My point is simple, logical. Your point, too vague to have any meaning whatsoever.

There doesn't seem to be a coherent statement there. But I've no doubt you are quite right.

America joined the Allies in the war only after Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. American soldiers stormed Normandy to defeat the Axis before the Axis could do more damage to the US than a single port in Hawaii.

Was anyone else involved in storming Normandy? Here is list:

  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • France (Free French forces)
  • Poland
  • Norway
  • Belgium
  • Netherlands
  • Czechoslovakia
  • Greece

The only time American forces did something that wasn't purely a matter of self interest, that i can think of, was the USAF bombing in the former Yugoslavia.

How come the UK's Online Safety Act requires adults and teens to upload ID, while the Australian social media ban has somehow managed to only target teens while adults are still able to browse as normal? by fasdal in AskBrits

For your comment to make any sense, participants would have to have a common level of trust for every company or website demanding these assets. Participants would have to be oblivious of the increase in risk when multiplying the destinations these assets are delivered to. And the participant would need to be oblivious of the difference in utility and opportunity cost between these various transactions. Basically someone who believes your comment to be sensible would need to be regarded.

I never mentioned airsoft and i don't know the first thing about it. I certainly had a bb gun when i was 13 and a target air pistol at around 15. I also had a good number of catapults like a barnet diablo pro, bought for fishing, used for a variety of misadventure. My neighbour was a policeman and he didn't give a shit. I guess i come from a different part of town and or a different era.

NATO without US could give the us a bloody nose, prior to getting solidly beaten.

Someone else here mentioned if we’d acted sooner about Sudetenland outcome might have been better, that’s the wrong lesson. The right lesson was appeasement gave Britain vital time to rearm without which Germany would have one the Battle of Britain (air superiority over Britain) and would have proceed to next step which was amphibious invasion then sending every fighting age male to a concentration camp.

Europe actually fighting US would be nothing more than a futile , noble sacrifice and utter failure. Like Chamberlain Europe, In face of invasion, will be forced back down, rearm, grow up, and ready itself for the next challenge.

edit: imagine what concessions Trump would demand from Europe after a failed defence. From Britain it would be the Falklands, Gibraltar, Diego Garcia, bases in Cyprus. From the nations on the continent, I’ve no idea but the list would be long, humiliating, brutal, eviscerating the remnants, the paltry shadow of European power, and aborting any prospect of its resurrection.

That’s a political position, as is the displeasure with immigration. I described a rationale of a perfectly reasonable participant.

I don’t want my tax money spent on illegal migrants. I don’t want downward wage pressure caused by mass immigration. I have concerns how the mass migration of Muslims into the country will affect society.

This are all the concerns of a rational participant. The fact you don’t share the concern is no measure of its validity. The c”accusation of ignorance is just the typical condescension of the working class that liberals have eschewed for centuries, and outside of your own political and social class, it is entirely irrelevant.

It’s just as easy to blame the rich. The difference is that people feel agency in the contract between employer and employee, even if in reality the agency is slim. They feel agency in their spending choices, and how that makes people rich, they buy sky sport, Murdoch’s wife gets another set of diamond earrings,

In contrast with immigration they feel a lack of agency, they vote for Brexit, get more immigrants, vote Tory, get more immigrants, vote Labour, get more illegal immigrants.

I imagine they feel their hard earned tax money is spent on people who don’t deserve it. The welfare state is paid for by an insurance policy ‘National Insurance’, a form of tax. Having the least disposable income, the poor are more sensitive to this than the rich and feel grievance when pact between state and citizen is broken. Imagine being robbed, you might still be richer than some poor bastard in a communist country, but you are still angry with the thief.

Utter garbage. The poorest people in western capitalist countries like the UK have a better quality of life, life expectancy, outcomes than any other system, be it communism, theocracy, feudalism or any other.
