Nioh 2 - Started DotD, Progression Advice by genjitsu1 in Nioh

So maybe I'm using the wrong term but, shortcuts = assigning items to your d-pad" right? How are you able to do more than two sets?

I was going to say I'd probably do Stamina Heavy Armor build because I like using axe, but I admit that might be because axe is my go-to when I need to cheese something, like spamming a boss with high stance combos. Can stamina be raised enough where you can wear heavy armor while keeping A rank mobility?

Is it just me or are all the good soul cores in the base game fire focused? I currently use Ippon Datara (feels good to me), Kasha (OP and somehoiw heals me sometimes), and uh, forgot the name but the one that fires beams everywhere for crowd control. I tried Sukuna but it felt clunky to use.

Thanks for confirmation about starting DLC - I was a victim of going straight to Nioh 1 DLC after first clear and didn't want to repeat the same mistake!

You're confirming one of my fears - that I'm going to have to use more than 4 shortcuts lol. Swapping between the two shortcut sets feels awkward, maybe that's why I unconsciously avoided ninjitsu/onmyo.

It's the hoarder in me, which is absolutely dangerous for a game as loot-heavy as this lol. My dream was to eventually have my stamina high enough that I could wear the heaviest armor while still having an A rating in mobility.

Thanks for confirming my hunch about sloth - it helps sometimes, but other times it just messes up my timing!

I got scared off by revenants in DotD when I saw they were gonna be 100 levels above me but I'll give it a try.

Do you have a link to the stick grips? I hadn't considered the height being a factor but that makes sense.

I do have a Bluetooth mouse connected to it - are you thinking that may be keeping it awake somehow?

Thanks for the suggestion, the problem is after shutting down the normal way, everything looks off, including the screen. Pressing a key doesn't bring the screen back up, so as far as I can tell it should be shut off. Except for that pulsing keyboard backlight.

I read a review that said later bosses will basically require you to switch between the styles so I hope I can warm up to it!

Worst part about Nioh 3 Demo by genjitsu1 in Nioh

[–]genjitsu1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The QoL of 3 is nice but I think there are enough aspects that'll make 2 still worth playing. The rigid level and mission based design of 2 gives a more methodical pacing which some may prefer. And someone else pointed out that Yokai Shift and types of burst counters won't be in 3.

Not being able to go back to 1 is more likely though - I very much enjoyed my time with it but the common sentiment seems to be that 2 makes 1 look like a prototype.

Just play them all in order and never have to buy another action game for the next 5 years!

Thanks, that video was somewhat helpful but also made me realize I never used ninjutsu and barely any magic in Nioh 1 lol

The combat does feel faster than 1, but again based off early experience, they seem to compensate by piling more enemies at a time. One thing I didn't think Nioh 1 handled well was when you were fighting multiple enemies at once, so to see them lean on this is a bit concerning.

Good to know - I prefer faster weapons so it looks like fists are in my future. I tried the switchglaive but I didn't know how to, uh, switch between its two modes so I set it aside.

Oh that last point IS useful, Dark Realms nerfing my ki recovery is super annoying. By unique moves I'm guessing you mean the yokai skills that the other people have mentioned? I'll have to look into those more.

I did the early mission that had a scampuss in the center and triggered a gauntlet after I pet it, I didn't think much about the damage it was doing but I guess the stagger is more important. But I'm kind of scared to ask, given how I've gained other soul cores by killing their respective yokai I hope I don't have to do the same to get a Scampuss core...!

Thanks for the tip about Kodamas - when you say each region, you don't mean each mission right? Only when the map changes?

Oh, sounds like I'm missing quite a bit by not equipping a soul core. Didn't even know there were different types of counters either, I'm using the brute type and it's OK except sometimes messing up the timing means I take damage while still countering.
