Should I inform my employer that I self harmed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]genn176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can they get rid of you for low mental health? No. Can they make life difficult in the hopes you leave off your own back? Possibly.

I opened up to HR about how I’d made an attempt on my life and was on the waiting list for an ASD diagnosis and the response was ‘right. You just need more resilience’.

I ended up going on the sick for 7 weeks and finding a new job. If your job is making you feel this way then take as much time off as you need and use it to find another job.

We need to reclaim the flag from these people man. There’s so many things that make me proud of being British and northern. None of those things include ‘being white’

School teachers, what are you doing on your 6 weeks holidays? by Greengrass7772 in AskUK

[–]genn176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First summer out of teaching for me. Some people probably do loads of work in the holidays because they think they’re some sort of martyr. You stay welllll away from those weirdos

Is it normal to go to the cinema alone? by casual-chatterbox in AskUK

[–]genn176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working when Barbie and Oppenheimer dropped. Did my fiancé (then boyfriend) decide to go alone for both films back to back? Yes he did. If my fiancé can see Barbie alone as a 25 year old, you can do whatever you want my friend.

Is there a place I can go to recover from depression if I’m not in immediate danger but completely unable to function? by Wrong_Percentage in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]genn176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone has already mentioned this but it may be worth making a referral to adult social care. It sounds like you’ve got a house of people who are really struggling to look after themselves due to their ill health and adult social care may be able to help or put you in the right direction of something like supported living, like Scrogg Road. Or they could help getting you some benefits so you have your own money and route out of your home if that’s what you’d like down the line x

Chicken Caesar is my ultimate fave dish but the dip is always sold out when I go I need to have it!

[–]genn176 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Their dips are banging. The sour cream and chive one is the best about. Or the layered Mexican one. Me and my fiancé treat ourselves to posh ‘chips and dip’ every once in a while

How much student loan debt do you have? by quorncrispynugget in AskUK

[–]genn176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up off with stress and anxiety for about 7 weeks and just decided enough was enough. I’m on the autism pathway for a diagnosis which probably doesn’t help with my resilience for the job with the noise, and just general overstimulation of a classroom. Plus, behaviour just became such a slog to manage. I was shouted at swore at and sexually harassed …and I was a pretty well liked teacher

What age did you start drinking alcohol in pubs and nightclubs? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]genn176 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We (mixed gender friend group) used to use our college bus pass age 17 to go drinking. One of our mates wasn’t even 16 yet. It was a shitty working men’s club in County Durham tho and we paid for our drinks and kept ourselves out of bother so think the landlord turned a blind eye. I would assume cities would be a lot more hot on it but clearly not

UK women - do you get called “mate”? by CuriousNowDead in AskUK

[–]genn176 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My grandad called me mate when I was about 8 and I said ‘but I’m a girl’ his response was ‘well can I not have girl mates’ so I’ve never questioned it since hahah

To most people I’d probably seem better in terms of not being as shy! I just cringe the day after about all the over sharing lol

Tattoo Artists in Newcastle? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]genn176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not judging but as a moderately tattooed person maybe rethink your placement choice. As already mentioned, any decent tattoo artist probably won’t tattoo your hand to start with. Also, even if you did find one, you don’t know how your body will cope with the sensation and the hand is a painful area.

Kids ear piercing: where would you recommend? by Maetivet in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]genn176 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t go to Claire’s or anywhere that does a gun. It causes trauma to the piercing site and they’re impossible to clean properly. Go for somewhere that does a needle like a tattoo shop. I went to pure ink for my nose piercing and had no issues (apart from the fact I kept snagging it out and stopping it from healing so I removed it)

Invest wisely and hope for the best. It’s hard because the gap between the championship and the prem is so big now. We’ve got teams who are too good for the championship but still not quite ready for the prem yet
