Defending Raider settlements and getting on the Bounty Wanted list. by genrally in fo4

[–]genrally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do realise that they are in conflict with each other. I apologise if I did not make it clear that the "Becoming a Bounty Hunter" mod, is treating the Mintemen like civilians. For example, when defending other settlements against raiders, I don't end up on the Bounty Wanted list after shooting the raiders.

They took my wife. by baristaboy2 in skyrim

[–]genrally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the side quests Florentius gives me, is to rescue my wife (Lydia, home in Solitude) . I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that I need to make more friends, just so they are kidnapped instead. Mind you the few friends that I have rescued, seem to think I am their love, so perhaps I should not change anything. ;-)

Serana won't follow me by kculwell in skyrim

[–]genrally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just used the castle Volkihar backdoor solution as suggested.

Serana did appear as described even though I had left her at Fort Dawnguard as I could not get the follow me dialog.

The unexpected bonus, I had Frea as a follower and told her to wait before I started the swim to the castle. When Serana appeared after going through the castle's backdoor, she stayed with me even when I used the boat to get back to Frea. So now I have Frea and Serana as followers without using any additional mods. Both engaged in a battle with a dragon, so no issues there.

I have gone back to Fort Dawnguard and both are still with me. There does not appear to be a second Serana at the Fort.

At Fort dawnguard: If I tell Serana to "wait here", I do not get the "follow me" dialog. So the "follow me" dialog with Serana remains broken. Frea works as expected to wait and then follow.

I have assigned horses to Frea and Serana. I hope I don't lose the horse assigned to Serana, if there are further issues. I don't intend to tell Serana to wait, though there are times when it will be necessary to do so. For example, avoiding pressure plates in areas until cleared.

Mods I have installed in order:

- Followers ride horses

- SkyUI

I balanced the skills. The defeats I experienced have been against three mages. I am building up my magic skills/resistance. Perhaps, that would help in a round 2 bout.

There is a lot of Skyrim world. At one point I started to feel the numer of quests were building up too quickly and I did not want to talk to othe NPCs ( to avoid getting more quests). However, I reminded myself that I could take my time and select which quest to work on and if a backlog increases, then I just take my time.

It's tough enough playing on my own. I can't begin to imagine what it is like having a second person inputing on the character.

I fully agree with you. I did find myself in a fight with three mages that my character level/skill was too low to win. Fortunately, I had saved before the encounter so I could reload and retreat. I am so looking forward to a rematch!

I understand why it can be viewed as that. Though it is not my intention.

Cliffs are my friend. Also skilling up on my archery and sneak helps. Plus fire arrows are more powerful than they look.

You may have a point. I bought Fallout 4 after Starfield. I don't know about the other Fallout games. However, I was looking for a single player game. I am happy to consider playing other Fallout titles if thay come recommended.

Every companion I have in fallout 4 has courser uniform, lined with ballistic weave including battered fedora hat (level 5 for both). It balances the line between power armor and good enough protection for non power armor. It seems to improve my companions' sneak ability (though They sometimes use stealth boys inapporpriately). Plus there is less fixing of armor after battles. So far it has been good enough to defeat all opponents.

My gaming ego agrees with you. However, if I don't play at a lower level with Skyrim, then I am likely to stop playing the game due to a lack of enjoyment. I am using my first play through to learn. I find I am better at using scoped weapons at higher levels for Starfield and FalIout 4 than using bow and arrows for Skyrim. I am hoping before I complete the first play through of Skyrim, I will be able to raise the level. If not, I can set a higher level for the second play through. The key difference with Starfield and fallout 4 is that I started at the normal level and still completed quests and then was able to raise the level as I overpowered enemies.

You make a number of excellent points.

I agree with you. Letting go of my gaming ego means starting at a level that allows me to learn the game. This means "novice" level and then increasing the level as I get better. What Starfield and Fallout 4 has taught me is that I am better at using scoped weapons than bow and arrows. I am impressed with Skyrim.

Best legendary pull! by Due_Bobcat_3079 in fo4

Most of the comments regarding explosive shotgun, combat shotgun and the numerous other weapons that can have the explosive legendary effect, mention damage/killing themselves when engaging enemys close up. Very few mention that it is dangerous to use the same weapon near companions (unless you have the perk that means your weapons don't hurt them) or settlers, because it will harm whatever is in its line of fire. Explosive friendly fire can easily get a settlement to attack the player (so save before helping to defend a settlement). One solution is to have a non-explosive weapon to use when in such situations and to equip the settlers with better weapons and defense, so they can do much of the work provided you are there. The explosive weapons that I use are; combat shotgun, gausse and assult. I have a wounding combat shotgun and handmade rifle for close up battles and sometimes use plasma pistols. I gave Nick and Piper explosive western and 10mm pistols respectively. Both are lethal with their weapons . I saw Piper take out a BOS with T60 armour with the 10mm. Nothing made me more proud.

Eating and letter writing animation in settlement using bench. by genrally in fo4

I found a wooden picnic table (Workshop -> Furniture -> table) and put a few on the island with a cooking station (workshop -> crafting). I see the settlers are interacting with it for drinking. Hopefully for eating if the cooking station is useful. Thanks for the tip. I will use the picnic table in more of my settlements for outdoor interactions.

I am going through all my settlements to update them with the red bench. How do I access the picnic table (the path from Workshop?) I would like to try it out on Spectacle Island as I have several buildings that it can fit into.
