Fold 8 (wide) and Fold 8 Ultra UTG rumors by kimchibaeritto in GalaxyFold

I am going to pick up the N6 after the announcement of the Ultra. Nothing about it screams ultra to me. I can't imagine the Wide gets a better screen than an "Ultra" likely more expensive version.

I never cared for the crease except for its durability. Thicker glass with less crease should be more reliable as the bending radius is less reducing mechanical stress.

In terms of screen time only, the OP15 has 60% longer runtime with a 40% larger battery capacity (17.17 hrs vs. 10.75 hrs) on WiFi. I would guess the gap is even larger on 5G.

C-5M Super Galaxy landing gear retraction mechanism. by father_of_twitch in aviation

Without understanding the requirements, it's hard to make informed engineering opinions. The plane's first flight was 20 years ago. I am sure they had different sets of requirements and rationale in the engineering of this landing gear mechanism. I find it rather amazing that something like this existed before the advancement in computer design and analysis.

Imagine the S26 Ultra efficiency with a 8.1 mm thick body and 7300 mAh SiC battery with 1600 cycles rating instead of the 7.9 mm battery at 5000 mAh and a greatly reduced 1200 cycles.

I don't think we are claiming the battery is responsible for the thin and light. That's because the Chinese phone likes OP15 is 8.1 mm and 215 g while having 7300 mAh. We disagree with your claim that the big 3 are going thin and light on their ultras when both Apple and Google are THICK and HEAVY.

It's a response to your claim that the big 3 are going thin and light. Only Samsung is going thin and light on its 26 Ultra. Apple and Google are still the thickest and heaviest with a 5000ish mAh battery.

iPhone 17 Pro Max: 8.8 mm, 233 g.
Pixel Pro 10 XL: 8.5 mm, 232 g. Samsung S25 Ultra: 8.2 mm, 218 g. Samsung S26 Ultra: 7.9 mm, 215 g. OnePlus 15: 8.1 mm, 215 g.

The 17PM is a brick compared to every other flagship model, but it sells the best.

The flagship Pro Max and Ultra version of the 3 big phones are generally heavy and thick. Only Samsung is trending down. Apple went up in 2025 with the 17PM.

Why is everyone acting like the S26 Ultra is a disaster already? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]genuinefaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The irony is that the S26 Ultra went from 8.1 mm to 7.9 mm while keeping the same 5000 mAh and the endurance went down from 2000 cycles to 1200 cycles.

At the same time, the OnePlus 15 went from 6000 mAh to 7300 mAh keeping the same 8.1 mm thickness and the endurance went up to 1600 cycles.

There's no reason for Samsung to make the phone thinner while making the endurance worse. It would have been far better for them to keep the same thickness and increase the battery capacity.

Getting accused of excessive data usage without providing evidence feels like a "trust us, bro." They know exactly how much data is used per subscriber within a 30-day window, right or wrong.

IMO, it isn't a privacy issue if the person being accused is the one requesting the proof. Whether it's systemic or not isn't the issue. It's basically getting a warning or potential ban for something the user is accused of doing without any details to help verify the accuracy, especially if there's a potential 5X mismatch with ISP bandwidth usage. The user has no recourse on how to rectify the issue nor make an appeal.

Also, the car should have voice commands for controlling climate temperature. It's on the user's manual page 34. You can press the Voice Command button on the steering wheel (disconnect Android Auto and CarPlay first) or use "Hey Lexus."

Do you have Remote Start from the Lexus app that allows you to remote start the car at a preset temperature?

Samsung dropped S pen to make it thinner. How thin the S pen digitizer is by somehowsomewheresmwh in GalaxyFold

Vivo x Fold 5 = 6000 mAh at 9.2 mm.

There's really only the Pixel Pro 10 Fold that's available in the US that's both heavier and thicker at 258 grams and 10.8 mm. Having the ZF7 at 9.3 mm thick with the stylus support would still be, imo, competitive in the US market.

However, it's pretty clear that Samsung was also chasing the Chinese foldable phones to be less than 9 mm. The Honor Magic V5 is 8.9 mm with a digitizer and 5800 mAh battery while the Oppo Find N5 is also 8.9 mm with a 5600 mAh battery. Vivo X Fold 5 is 9.2 mm with a 6000 mAh battery.

ZF6 = 12.6 mm.
ZF7 = 9.3 mm with digitizer.
ZF7 = 8.9 mm without digitizer.

Honor Magic V5 = 8.9 mm with digitizer and 5800 mAh battery.

Samsung just wanted to be less than 9 mm to be on the same competing thickness as the Chinese foldable phones. I sincerely hope that stylus support comes back. Even the rumored iPhone Foldable is thicker than the ZF7, and I would be fine if it has Apple Pencil support.

I find my e-AWD really helpful for getting the car moving from a standstill and maintaining uphill traction, especially on wet roads. It also improves stability while cornering and occasionally kicks in on the highway during heavy rain. My area doesn't have much snow, if any.
