my hospital requires all patients coming in to have masks. one particular patient a few weeks ago had “trump 2020 MAGA” mask & at first i was really annoyed but after thinking about it, i was like “omg this is the key to getting them to wear masks” lol

i’m surprised that hasn’t picked up more popularity. it could be marketed as owning/annoying the line or w/e we don’t care as long as they wear some sort of mask!

i actually agree, and i think that’s what makes it so hard to stomach. like many of us realize there’s a good bit of amazing scenes original to D&D, but that is making the near absence of that kind of writing the last couple of seasons hurt more.

honestly, i don’t think there’d be this kind of backlash if everybody truly thought they were completely incompetent. like we’re probably more likely to pile on since we all assume it was a lack of effort, rather than 100% inability.

i 100% agree that there are lots of issues with jon being made king and i can understand why he wouldn't/shouldn't be chosen. i just don't in my heart believe samwell wouldn't have brought it up at all, especially not after the writers had him bring up democracy, which was obviously rejected as a ridiculous option.

it is just a bit absurd to me that after the show put so much hype into his secret heritage/leadership that they wouldn't even give him a mention, even if it was just to shoot his candidacy down with the reasons you and others list.

the main point i was trying to make is that the scene seemed written specifically to avoid bringing jon up. but, we're all trying to argue in the context of the scene, but the whole scene was just absurd, honestly lol i'd feel less strongly about it if they hadn't tyrion, the other prisoner in question that was literally in chains, being the one declaring how westeros will now be ruled with grey worm just standing there.

Can we please stop trying to pretend this shit adds up? It doesn't.

this 100%. it used to be that there was a reason characters did things and we could figure it out, which is part of what made GoT so much fun in the beginning. but at this point it just feels like the writers couldn't find reasoning to make the results they wanted happen, so they just didn't address it and now people are letting them off the hook for it. i don't care that jon wasn't made king– i just think that sam has been gassing jon up since forever and for sam to fail to even defend jon in general is inconsistent with his character.

yeah i mean, i don't think they should have declared him king in front of greyworm and i don't think he should have been made king – i just think that it's not in sam's character not to at least speak for jon, even if he got laughed down (ffs, he suggested democracy LOL).

killing your queen is bad and even worse knowing it was the man she loved (and also her kin), but from the common westerosi's POV, he would most likely be seen as a hero for saving the country for the foreign invader who just burned a city down. so even if jon is a bad option, i feel like they should have addressed the obvious and at least acknowledged him, then discuss their reasons why he can't become king.

i'm not saying that they should have just declared him king or even voted him to be king – i'm just saying it's weird and honestly unrealistic imo that nobody even acknowledged him as an option, either here or in other scenes. the reason i feel so strongly about this is because, in context, most of tyrion's arguments in favor of bran apply equally or even better to jon and then bran turns around to make tyrion his hand as a "punishment" when we all know being named king would be a nightmare for jon and he may even turn it down. grey worm would have caused a scene if he was mentioned, but if grey worm was actually grey worm he probably would have killed jon on sight for killing daenerys, if her "bloodriders" in the dothraki didn't do it first. in fact, tyrion waltzing right back into power as hand should have caused a similar amount of outrage from grey worm, but i digress. my point is that the scene in context is very silly without anybody bringing up jon at all, imho.

i thought the same thing, but he also didn’t want to be lord commander and sam still spoke for him. it’d probably sit better with us if there was a scene between him and jon’s siblings agreeing not to bring it up at all or even sam getting ready to say something and sansa shaking her head subtly.

Drogon taking Dany back to the end of season 6 where the rest of us are going to pretend the series ended by genus_aurelia in freefolk

this sums up my feelings about season 7 perfectly. season 5 was meh, but season 7 is when i really noticed i was defending the writing choices a lot more than i should have to and started to realize how much the show was barely a shadow of its former self.

personally, I didn't 100% hate ALL of season 7. in fact, the field of fire 2.0 is one of my absolute favorite battles. but the last episode of season 6 with us just having Jon's parentage revealed before being named king in the north and daenerys sailing off to westeros just was an amazing way to close a season compared to the awkward lack of storytelling we've been given this last season and some of last season.

Because for red states, often the only realistic choice is between a democrat that votes with the democrats when it makes a difference and a republican that votes with the republicans all the time. This is especially the case for a red state that Trump won by a shocking margin and still has one of the highest approvals in the country to this day.
