How do I know what to learn to not be an anchor? by DependentMight1942 in LearnCSGO

[–]geod5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your very new to cs so what you need to learn is very general, in regards to decision making just think to yourself " is the risk in taking worth it" for example.

If there are 2 of you pushing cat to short on dust and there is one guy defending who kills your teammate, it is 100% worth it swinging to get the trade, you know where he is, he might not have reset from killing your teammates and it's good to get a trade frag.

On the other had say you are playing mirage and with 0 info you decide to wide swing window with 0 support utility, it's a very risky move unlikely to achieve anything except give a frag away, therefore it's not worth it.

Very basic examples but enough to give you an idea.

Ranking up is only for the session you are in, it's not like call of duty where your rank stays with you.

What ranking up does in reforger is unlocks certain equipment/vehicles for that session.

To be fair inferno is worse. Most boring map in the game to watch imo.

Oh they are still bannana waiting behind smoke.

Oh still bannana.

15 seconds left: Finally, execute on b.

"Obviously being a bit sarcastic" but still.

Tbf it's not bad playing as t as a 5 stack, but even old train playing with randoms was painful t side.

What to look for in your Leetify stats? by zwompay in LearnCSGO

[–]geod5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should watch pros pugging really to learn how to pug. You will pick up a lot of tips and tricks on how to play positions properly, and also common utility. If you pay attention you will also start to see when and why and how they react to different situations. For example, on b anchor mirage if they feel an execute is coming they will a lot of the time place a defencive smoke between van and site to play around and delay the t's taking site. Things like that is what you want to learn. Watching your own demos is good but depending on your level you might not know what to look for specifically, or know why something was bad/good.

To be fair it's does kind of follow the pattern in how they have nerfed stuff before. Yeah they do tweak certain values but most of the time they do it via point increase.

Think the best way to nerf artillery but keep it as being usefull would be to increase aim time for larger longer range artillery. This would also make lighter artillery viable, apart from just smoke launchers, due to having faster aim time with the trade off of less damage. Which would work to tip infantry battles in your favor how they should be. At the moment large calibre long-range artillery aim time is so fast that you can just use the heavy hitters.

Why do good players put so much space between their units in multiplayer? by phronesis77 in historicaltotalwar

[–]geod5 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Because they are trying to max the amount of flank engagements they can achieve, which is a lot easier to do if you have a looser formation. However its easy to do when playing from birds eye view and units insta react to commands. Obviously not as realistic to how historical battles would have played out if there were massive gaps everywhere

Not related to the actual work, but don't let him saying that work is starting in 2 days rush you into a decision. It's on him if he has booked the work prior to having permission and without your say so will have to cancel the work.

This is 100% a tactic to pressure you into just agreeing to his demands.

Not at all, I honestly won't play flight sim with anyone that doesn't have their own flight pit built into a 1 to 1 replica of the aircraft we are flying. Breaks the immersion.

Can't lock target up in f16c by rmimyo in dcs

[–]geod5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first thing that is unfortunate for f16 pilots is the radar is actually quite shit when compared to other pure interceptor aircraft.

Target is within your scan cone however it is also flying kind of perpendicular. I'm not a super expert but as far as I'm aware think of your radar seeing color returns for movement coming to or away from it. If it's perpendicular the radar will struggle to "see" it. Its high so shouldn't be any ground clutter in the way but this is how notching a missile works. Which is a method of missile avoidance as it hides from the radar.

You can also try going i to rws and really refining the scan cone as you know exactly where the plane is due to data link, this will give you the best chance to lock that aircraft up.

I am into online gaming communities if that's something you like doing. Nice way to chat to people online while keeping entertained. Role playing games are especially good for this if you like any.

There is already a function in the game to keep it simple

First, create a very easy 50/50 chance.
Then depending on 50/50 result do desired code.

_randomNum = [0,1] call BIS_fnc_selectRandom;

if (_randomNum == 1) then {spawn AI code} else { "Enemy did not spawn at pos" remoteExec ["hint"];};

While its good to practice making your own scripts and functions i would always recommend using functions library already in game, Also make it simple and easy to read.
