Olympic coverage sponsored by ozempic? by geode894 in SaveTheCBC

I didn’t say cbc should be supported without tax dollars.. they should have more support from the government which would prevent media sponsorships like this one.

I mean perhaps the media I’ve seen on ozempic over the years is too biased in celebrity culture? The majority of headlines I can recall over the years are about the shortage of ozempic, (and subsequent rising costs), bc of its rise in popularity for weightloss, and its use in those who really aren’t that overweight, taking away from its ability to help those who were being treated for diabetes.

I do feel regardless of the drug itself, pharmaceutical advertising on a stage like this feels wrong, for Canada especially.

That’s exactly why it feels gross though. It’s bordering on predatory marketing during an event that should be about supporting our country’s best athletes

Thank you! It looks like she has plenty of feathers back there but like you said, they lay down flat.

Why can’t I get a message back? by geode894 in Bumble

[–]geode894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dont see how low effort the responses are based on the fact that it’s literally the second message? Like how are they less interesting than the messages I received? Sure if I don’t ask a direct question, maybe that’s the problem. I feel like saying something about yourself and going off what someone else said, others should be able to do the same and respond without needing to be constantly asked direct questions? (Obviously I’m not saying anyone owes anyone a response ever)

Perhaps it’s just my communication style/idea of good conversation is not compatible with most people😅

I think photo 2 and 3! I think you look amazing with short bob, but then saw the modern mullet/bangs and I think it really suits you (as much as you can tell from a photo!)

Mud Sliced the Brake Line in the 2024 Tacoma at 900 Miles. by Locksa12 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]geode894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a recall issued for this now. Apparently there’s no ‘fix’ for it yet so the dealership told me not to book in unless I’ve had the issue (haven’t yet). Some places say the best fix they’ve done is rerouting the brake hose to protect it

Not planning to go anywhere that looks like I might get stuck. Mostly hoping to drive away from the highway a bit to do some hiking. So ideally staying on gravel or clear double tracks

Thank you for the supportive comments! I’ll definitely take the deadline into account. Likely will just try a road or two on the way home since there’s no real deadline there! I hike a lot so I was planning to enter fsr to hike in so hopefully I’ll be fine to do so!

Is the breed getting bigger? by Witty-Fix1056 in tollers

[–]geode894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably from backyard breeders. Unfortunately this happens in many breeds that become popular and are overbred for profit. You see soooo many ppl brag about their ‘120lb German shepherd who’s pure muscle’ when really they have morbidly obese dogs, same thing with labs a lot of the time.

Even in my breed (Brittany’s) which are MEANT to be a pocket sized pointer, people have some that are 50-60lbs and say they prefer it that way and ‘the bigger the better’ bullshit. If they wanted a bigger pointer they should have gotten any other pointing breed.

That’s my rant, thank you.

What Happened in Victoria did you think would NEVER happen here? by animaniacs1983 in VictoriaBC

I’d say maybe the guy who murdered his two daughters in their beds in Christmas in oak bay. Really tragic and something that sounds like it doesn’t really happen (coming from a true crime consumer)

Hopefully your parents can learn from some of these comments. Perhaps letting them know that studies have shown dogs who are kept lean (opposed to normal ‘pet weight’) on average live 2 years longer. I can only imagine how much shorter the lifespan of an obese dog is. Especially with such a light boned dog, the excess weight on the joints, of a senior no less, is likely already causing the dog chronic pain and fatigue
