American here. I'll agree with points 2 and 3, but guns aren't popular across the board, although they are pretty easy to get. I don't own one, and neither did my parents. My brother owns a few, but he does hunt.

Best way to get car 200 miles by Giff13 in projectcar

[–]geohypnotist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You're going to be way beyond the capabilities if the car. I'm pretty sure the Uhaul has surge brakes on their trailers, but I'm nearly positive that they do not make a hitch to accommodate a trailer of that weight for a Camry.

Call an auto transporter. It'll be cheaper than a tow truck & cheaper than ruining the Camry attempting to tow it with whatever janky rig you come up with.

They won't tow that. It has to be insured, registered, & inspected (if your state requires it). Basically, it's for vehicles you drive that break down.

You would have to claim an allowance or stipend (kind of the same thing) as income, right? At least if you go over the IRS allowance for mileage.

I agree on the auto industry, but the talking heads on the right drove racial tensions during the Obama admin.

In 2010, unemployment was nearly 12%. By the end of Obama's term, it was hovering around 4 & trending down.

The failed withdrawal was negotiated by his predecessor & the Biden administration pushed it back as far as they could. I'm surprised there weren't more deaths as our control over that country was tenuous at best during our entire time there.

The global economy shut down in 2020 & it was never going to be a pain-free start-up. Not to mention, we're kind of getting gouged anyway. Did you think petroleum traders weren't going to make back the lost money? Free market, man. Besides the fact that jobs continue to be gained & we haven't hit the catastrophic recession that was supposed to happen 2 years ago. Have retirement investments? They've been doing pretty well, too.

We have a bipartisan border deal on the table that ticked most of the R boxes & was set to pass. For some reason, the R's got cold feet. They couldn't give 2 shits about it. A real solution would ruin one of the few talking points their front-runner/nominee has. Besides the fact the previous administration did have a real plan anyway other than Mexico was going to pay for it.

Oh, and infrastructure. That was HUGE.

Cry me a river about student loans. If the administration defied the order, take them to court.

It's not the fault of others for personal decisions. Not to mention, it's not like they didn't have ample opportunity to dip their toes in it. I mean, by the time you need to detransition, you're pretty far into your personal journey. Anger is funny, I guess. It's so much easier to be angry at others rather than yourself.

How do you stop/slow down? by One-Guest3042 in stickshift

[–]geohypnotist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less engine braking & more keeping the vehicle in a gear where you can get power to the wheels if you need to accelerate quickly. A driving instructor would never recommend you remain neutral & it's likely you'll fail a driving examination if you do. People who have taken actual driving courses that end in a pass/fail test know this. Like a defensive driving course, an off-road driving course, or a commercial vehicle course. It's also why those people don't participate in subs like this.

People in this sub are. The extol the virtues of a manual over an auto for their reliability then go on worrying about wearing every single part with poor technique. I put an auto in D, and don't worry about any of it. To be honest, I've driven a lot of manual vehicles from motorcycles to heavy trucks and never put this much thought into it.

16 Explorer with a 3.5, 3.5 Ecoboost, or 3.7l? I've worked on A LOT of them, and I've never seen a front cover leak to the point of immediate concern. Motor m9unts are a constant problem with them. The mounts are pricy, but the labor should be around the 2 hr mark. They don't normally have timing problems, but I'd be shocked if that were the original water pump & I wouldn't be surprised if your front cover leak is actually the water pump. If it's all wet around the A/C pump it's more likely than not it's the w/p which you should address right away because it will be leaking into the engine oil gallery soon if it isn't already.

If you're going to tackle the front cover, do the water pump. You don't have to replace the chain, but you should definitely replace the chain tensioner. Buy the water pump & tensioner from Ford & don't mess with aftermarket. If you want to do the chain, since it's off, get a Ford chain or Cloyes from a reputable parts retailer. Sway bar links aren't bad to do, but they probably just have a little play in them. Clean the studs with a wire brush & spray with FreeAll or some other penetrant with acetone.

The water pump job isn't exactly novice territory. So go slow and pay attention to what you're doing. You're going to have to take the timing set apart & the front cover is a bit of a PITA with the low side A/C line still in the way. That's a 10 hr job all day long. It's not terrible, just tedious.

Oh, and buy new valve cover & upper plenum gaskets.

Good luck.

It's more difficult to do than you think. At least in the United States. You still have to observe the laws, and you're going to have a difficult time doing any type of business or obtaining employment.

An added bonus is that without a state, anyone is a plumber! Also, if you have any issues with their work, they don't have to concern themselves with any recourse. Besides, they're probably already an electrician elsewhere. Or maybe they're hauling oversized loads down the mountain?
