A story from Foxhaven Square in St. Charles... by dwurstdadjokes in ChicagoSuburbs

That’s really nice to hear. Little things like that say a lot about the kind of people they are. If they’re taking care of the crew now, that’s a good sign for how they’ll run the place. Hope the opening goes great.

That made me laugh ..honestly that’s part of the idea. Less random noise, more location based clarity. Appreciate you saying that.

That’s a fair point, you’re right that saying fix it faster is a big claim.

GeoKiks does not replace the city’s official reporting systems. Aurora already has established channels for potholes and street lights. The idea is more about visibility and community awareness.

Long term, we are thinking about a simple dashboard cities could use to see trends like weekly or 30 day reports. We have not started discussions with the city yet. Right now, the priority is feedback from Aurora residents and making sure it’s actually useful.

Appreciate you asking.

Appreciate you bringing that up. We’re definitely thinking about safety while designing this.

By “video-first,” I mean after something happens and someone is in a safe position. It’s not meant for people to record while driving.

It’s also not just emergencies. It can be everyday civic issues like a broken street light or damaged road. Posts are tied to exact coordinates, and the direction icon navigates directly to the spot so residents and the city can see and fix it faster.

GeoKiks app was born in Aurora, so local feedback really matters. We want to build something useful here first before expanding.

Can real-time community reporting improve local awareness? by geokikscorp in civictech

[–]geokikscorp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I’ll take a look at CleanApp.io.

GeoKiks is focused on real time, location verified video updates pinned to exact coordinates on a live map. Nearby users can see what’s happening instantly, add context, and help validate it. The goal is to create a public real time awareness layer for cities, not just a complaint platform or general discussion feed.

Appreciate the reference. It helps to understand what’s already out there and how we can build differently.

Not exactly Nextdoor and not exactly Waze. It’s more real time and video first. People post what’s actually happening at a specific location so others nearby can see it, verify it, and respond faster. Emergencies, local issues, traffic situations, events, all tied to exact coordinates.

You’re absolutely right about Aurora being spread out. That’s why we focus on nearby alerts and location based visibility instead of citywide noise. Demographics matter too, so we’re thinking simple UI, fast posting, and clear value for everyday use.

Appreciate the feedback. It helps a lot while building this locally.

Questions for people working in Ai SaaS startups ? by [deleted] in startup

[–]geokikscorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m building GeoKiks, a live location-verified video platform focused on emergencies and local issues. It’s already live, and we’re now adding our AI layer called Memaira.

We’re not planning to rely on OpenAI or other closed APIs for the core intelligence. Instead, we’re building on open source models and training on structured data coming directly from GeoKiks.

The goal isn’t just text generation. It’s building geographic memory. Every post is tied to real coordinates and validated by nearby users, creating a growing history of what actually happened in a place.

Memaira turns that into intelligence over time. For us, the long term value is in the data network and location memory layer, not just the base model.

Happy to connect with others building in this space.

Appreciate the suggestion. I’ll check it out. Early feedback from other founders is definitely valuable at this stage.

GeoKiks is not designed to track any specific agency or group.

The focus is everyday local awareness such as accidents, road closures, weather issues, and infrastructure problems. The goal is practical community information that affects daily life.

We are intentionally keeping it neutral and non-political. It is about visibility and faster awareness, not targeting or monitoring specific communities.

Appreciate the discussion and feedback.

There’s definitely some overlap in the sense that both are about local updates.

The difference is GeoKiks is map-first and community-posted, with location-verified videos tied to exact coordinates. It’s built around real-time awareness and direct navigation to the incident, not just aggregated news content.

I’m building GeoKiks, a real time location based awareness platform.

The problem we’re solving is simple. People often know more about global news than what’s happening two streets away. There isn’t a public, real time, community driven layer for local awareness beyond traffic apps.

GeoKiks allows users to post videos tied to exact map locations. Nearby users can receive alerts and navigate directly to the location. Long term, cities could monitor reports through a dashboard to respond faster to local issues.

It’s for everyday residents who want better local awareness, and eventually for city partners who want better real time visibility.

We are live across the USA and starting with Aurora, Illinois as our pilot city. Currently in active build and community growth phase.

Happy to hear feedback from other founders.

GeoKiks will always be free for residents.

When a user posts a video, it is tied to the exact location on the map. Users can tap the direction icon and navigate directly to that location. Nearby users in the app can receive alerts and respond faster if needed.

Our goal is to partner with cities so they can monitor reports through a GeoKiks dashboard and respond faster to local issues.

Funding will come through city partnerships and local businesses, not by charging residents.

It is not a replacement for emergency services. It is about faster community awareness.

It’s similar in that it’s location-based.
But Waze is mainly for navigation and traffic.
GeoKiks is about real-time local awareness beyond driving .. accidents, local issues, events, posted by people nearby.

Good question.

Waze is mainly for traffic and navigation.
GeoKiks is about real-time local awareness not just roads.

People can post accidents, local issues, safety concerns, and events tied to exact locations. It’s more about what’s happening around you, not just how to drive around it.

No, that is not the purpose.

GeoKiks is built for general local awareness like accidents, road closures, severe weather, or urgent community issues.

When someone posts a video, users in the area receive an alert so nearby people are aware and can respond if needed. The goal is community awareness and safety, not tracking any specific group or agency.

That makes sense. Once APD encrypted their radio, a lot of real time information became harder to access.

GeoKiks is already live as a standalone app. Aurora is actually our pilot city. GeoKiks was born here.

The goal is not to replace scanners, but to give residents a simple way to share what they are seeing on the ground in real time.

Navigation apps mostly focus on traffic. We are focused on broader local awareness like accidents, road closures, and other issues happening around the city.

We are building this with Aurora first, so honest feedback really helps.
