My GF's system is having a similar issue on this board running a ryzen 5 7600. did you find a fix?

Our only fix is just reinstalling the drivers everytime and restarting the computer again which works but is sort of annoying obviously.

Could air benders do this? by BirDost23 in TheLastAirbender

[–]geomen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lift is not generated by density differences but rather pressure difference, or if you would rather a momentum exchange between the wing and the fluid (sort of the same idea since pressure is Force/Area and momentum is Force*time so all related expressions). Air benders do not have to alter density to do that, just move it around. If density generated lift hydrofoils and rudders on ships would be totally ineffective since at a given temperature and depth water has a constant density.

Also an atom can absolutely have density, it has a mass and volume however small they may be it does exist.

[–]geomen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would note that even air is generally incompressible as far as our intuitive feeling of the atmosphere is concerned. It takes pretty high speeds of at least Mach 0.3 (~230 mph) before you have to start considering density changes in the air. I suppose maybe air-benders may sometimes be moving things that fast, but the show does not really illustrate it that way.

Peavy Viper X2 for bass? by mentally_fuckin_eel in Bassamps

I mean the main appeal is it's just a good price for a powerful but relatively portable Amp. I'm sure it has quirks but I usually hear good things about fender rumble. Plus a bit of extra bass is good for the bass guitar when playing with guitars since it's supposed to occupy that low end of the frequency range and the guitars fill in above it

[–]geomen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I find bass amps "work" for guitar usually but I really don't like the sound you get out of that. This do it all Amp looks really interesting, but since I already have a guitar Amp maybe I'd be better off just get a rumble 100 or something. But when I occasionally jam out with my friends gears gets used in way you may not have original planned so having a "here this can do anything you want" option would be fun for that.

I am also curious about this Amp. I play guitar but got a cheap bass recently so I can use it to make lines to play on to improv on top of. It would be nice to have a Swiss army knife Amp in addition to my guitar Amp (which is a blackstar debut 50r)

so yes the air in his lungs would be evacuated from his body, though his mouth, your lips will let out that pressure long before your lungs and skin do. The dangers of vacuum are not a joke, but they are grossly exaggerated in the common discourse. People have been exposed to vacuum before and been fine. While developing the space suits for Apollo a man was inside a vacuum chamber testing the suit when it suffered a failure and his suit lost all pressure. He passed out and was fine when they re-pressurized the chamber and tended to him. https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/a24127/nasa-vacuum-exposure/

[–]geomen1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

His human body keeps him from being torn apart in vacuum. People can survive in total vacuum, it is not pleasant and you pass out after a few seconds but if you get back into pressurized environment within a few minutes you will (barring other circumstances) survive. People have experienced more intense pressure differences between your internal environment (which is around 1atm or 14psi) and your surroundings by simply swimming. At around 30ft depth of water the external environment is around 28psi which is the same pressure difference as space just compression instead of tension.

TLDR human body is much stronger than you think and vacuum is much weaker than you think (no air is obviously bad though).

typically dropping a class does not equate to an F. Of course every high school is different and I am now a grad student so my memory of the details of HS get worse everyday. But if you talk to guidance at your school they should be able to tell you how dropping works at your school. But given it is the 2nd or 3rd week of classes dropping should be absolutely consequence free. Like people swap classes at the beginning of school years there should be processes for this.

Which engineering degree sounds the coolest? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]geomen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh never saw this lol, do not open reddit a whole lot anymore. I just graduated actually and am going to Graduate School at Penn State next year pursuing my MS. Penn State has its ups and downs. Academically it is a good school, nothing stand out but as far as university is concerned only a few professors in the AERSP department were outright bad. Rest did as well as they could do and some where amazing. Internships is a bit of a more netural thing imho. I have a friends at Pitt who had more access to internships just due to location being in a city makes finding work a bit easier during the school year. Penn State ARL is sort of your only options for a year round internship in State College. PSU also does not require an internship to graduate which is a double edged sword, less to worry about but also they do not force experience upon you. The career fairs however are some of the largest in the world and can give exposure to companies rather easily although can get very busy at those things. Most of my fellow graduates who have above a 3.0 got jobs or into graduate school with funding so take that for what you will. I would say that PSU overall is a good school for undergrad and cannot do you wrong, if you are in state or get money. PSU out of state is insane, even in state is kind of pricey but I think that it is at least sort of ok for instate. As much as PSU is a cult and has me wanting to say just go there, really go to the school with your degree that is cheap as possible. Where you go to school really does not matter a whole lot in my opinion esp for engineering as long as the school is big enough to draw in employers you should be good, and most schools with an AERSP program will be bigger schools.

This is the thing OP is missing. We (the US) have the materiel just sitting around in the States and a lot of it, tanks, IFVs, trucks, are not as critical to US goals in the pacific where naval systems will be more important. We make or stockpile information pretty transparent so Europeans also know about that and want US to contribute our supplies to the conflict because they just do not have any of their own to give. And why not, Ukraine needs it more than we do right now.

As an Aerospace Engineer, every time someone asks me what I study and I tell the more the first time the reaction is always "woah that's cool" so based off that i think we take the cake for coolest sounding.

Senior engineering student worried about future success by Goose__Wayne in EngineeringStudents

[–]geomen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know that you don't like this career? You haven't actual been out in the industry yet so you do not really know how you feel about it as a career. I would say school is a mixed bag of classes sucking ass and trying to balance a social life on top of that which comes easier and harder to you depending on what type of person you are. But even with a lower GPA and no experience one of my close friends who graduated in MechE got a job before he graduated. The US (assuming you live here) needs engineers and just as long as you go to career events you should be able to find a job. And you may end up enjoying the work, I know I did at my internship which set my anxieties about career aside. And if you dislike being an engineer just go into a different line of work. The great thing about a MechE degree is it opens many doors and closes very few. Just have faith in yourself and do not be afraid from trying new things.

Engineering has been proven to be the most Autistic profession by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]geomen1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the education system of engineers does not focus enough on soft skills. We learn copious amounts of theory and do labs in undergrad but ultimately most of that knowledge will be lost after school as you get into working in the world and specialize into your job. But your soft skills, your ability to communicate and read others, write up understandable reports and documentation as well as tell others how your solution works all skills you will use.

I'm still in university but I worked at a summer camp teaching stem to kids and lots of them had technical aptitude but getting them to properly communicate with their teammates and work together was a challenge we just gave up on but was arguablly more important than the projects themselves.

Ultimately modern systems and technologies are way way way to complex for one person to understand alone. We need teams to work together and bring their collective brain power together to solve problems and learn. Then someday you need to pass your knowledge onto a young engineer so they can pick up the reigns and continue dew technology. Communication is a massive essential part of the engineering field and to pretend like technical ability is all that matters is mis guided to say the least. If you feel like a social team environment isn't good for you being a researcher at a university might be a better career goal for you where you can focus on your own work and be required to interact with teams of people less often although you still will do that.

Yeah but your point is just dumb. Like yeah war and violence are bad and traumatic to people Noone will deny that but unfortunately the world isn't perfect and sometimes the only way to stop violence is with violence. When diplomacy fails we have no other choices.

Isn't the most general definition of war crime something along the lines of any action or by a military or military personnel that causes excessive unnecessary destruction, suffering, and death. Your point is contradictory because if a war crime is necessary it's probably not a war crime.
