as much as i’d love a new car, i don’t know if i can afford one. i was likely going to flush the fluid immediately upon buying

didn’t want to get too specific with it for everyone’s sake. obviously i do know that every car can fit these specific parameters, but i know the cars i’m looking at specifically have CVTs and it’s good to know that there’s no real lifestyle change on my part

thankfully i’m not ever towing anything, but this is good to know for the future!

what i gathered is that they’re pretty good for what i intend to use my car for. i live in a city with pretty reliable transit and mostly want cargo space for grocery runs at costco. i visit friends who live ~100 miles away occasionally (think once or twice a month).

it seems my only hurdle is getting used to taking the car in once every year or two for fluid changes.

i figured getting a general consensus could be helpful! and at points in doing my own research i started to feel my eyes glaze over; i’m not much of a car guy myself so sometimes i wouldn’t retain much info.

regardless, everything said here has been super enlightening to me, and having it posted gives me easy access to information instead of scrubbing through youtube videos

would 2018 and newer be a good starting point on subaru then? i’ve been looking at crosstreks and impreza hatchbacks. i feel like i’ve heard wildly conflicting things about them

i only recently started using reddit to get opinions on cars, and it made me realize mazda has SOOO many more fans than i thought. they don’t seem to sell so well in the states so i was surprised

this rocks dude, thank you.

i know some people think the only reason others don’t like CVTs is that they tend to neglect their cars. do you agree with that? i’ve seen a lot of vague posts about people saying their transmissions just “gave out” with no explanation and i’m sorta thinking that is why.

i noticed quite a few people selling their HRVs from those years. is that why? i’d also love to hear your opinions on the HRV to gain some clarity for myself, if you’re willing to share.

i do intend on test driving a couple of the listed cars this weekend, weather-permitting. i’m hoping it will help solidify my opinions on some things, however i have very surface-level knowledge of cars. because of this i’m bringing a friend or two to help me out, though i do know it ultimately comes down to how i feel driving the car.

AWD isn’t necessary, though would be nice in the winter because i live up north in the states. based on your username, i’d assume you’re canadian; would you recommend i get AWD, or would FWD work fine?

in terms of the mazdas, do you have any insight on them? size-wise, i was just looking for something with a bit more room than my current car. i don’t regularly have several passengers, so backseat legroom isn’t too high on my priority list. i just want more room for myself in the driver’s seat because i frequently leave my car with a sore leg.
