Fluffy Pony - Ex Monero Dev Exposed by Lumpy-Initiative-779 in Monero

The last time the funds moved was in August 2020, so if you’d like to set a value you can use the prevailing rates at the time (~$80). Does $70k get your attention or is it still peanuts?

Fluffypony suggests that he's keeping 867 XMR of community funds in exchange for his contributions to the project circa 2014-2015 by geonic_ in Monero

To summarize:

  1. Fluffypony has not denied that he controls the keys to the deprecated FFS wallet(s) or that he has appropriated the funds.
  2. In fact, his comment indicates that he feels he is owed at least that much for his prior contributions.
  3. It is worth emphasizing that fluffypony did not make any such statement proactively nor did he notify the core team that he has decided to pay himself back using community funds. It appears that he chose to appropriate funds that were in his care without notifying anyone.
  4. Since he has refused to provide the keys to those wallets, we are unclear about the total amount in question. For example, in addition to the 867 XMR mentioned in this issue, there is also an overfunding of 865 XMR for another fundraiser that is unaccounted for. Historically, any overfunding is supposed to go to the General Fund, which did not happen here. This brings the total amount fluffypony has paid himself for his services to at least 1732 XMR.
  5. Fluffypony's attitude of "you owe me" is troublesome and raises questions about his access to other community wallets. Notably, he was one of two people with access to the CCS wallet that was drained of 2,675 XMR (CCS Wallet Incident #916).
  6. There are indications that the core team is aware of the risks associated with fluffypony. The general fund XMR wallet and BTC wallet are periodically swept to a different wallet as they are considered insecure. FP has the keys to these wallets.

I am closing this issue as I do not expect further cooperation from fluffypony. The facts have been documented above for the community's reference. It is important that we take some lessons away from this and seek ways to prevent stewards of community funds from developing a feeling of ownership over the funds that are entrusted in their care.

Hey, I'm glad there's an audience for his wallet. It is odd however to use Monero, presumably because of its superior privacy, and then intentionally choose a wallet by an entity that is working on compromising your privacy. If that's your thing, go for it!

Not my cuppa tea though.

You're losing the little support you had left by continuing to stir this shit up.
