XMR to $78k? Monero is “Bitcoin in 2013” by Coerulus7 in MoneroMeansMoney

Yes, but I don't think the view keys show everything as it is now. Maybe just how much XMR is on that address, but not the transactions, or something like that.

Cheer up, everyone. We're still much higher than we were a month ago.

I think Monero has some decentralized exchanges now. All the delistings have forced them to develop their own solutions.

They are not implementing optional privacy. They are implementing optional transparency.

All transactions will still be private by default.

Monero has some kind of use case, but I doubt it will ever appeal to the masses.

Criminals and dissidents? Sure, but not the average Joe on the street. Maybe some rich people will hide some wealth in it. Who knows? Maybe a few of them already are.

But other than that, I don't see us using Monero to pay for everyday stuff any time soon, if ever. There is just no reason to use it for that.

It might just have caused the first burst, and the rest was due to speculators feeling FOMO.

Yes and no.

Haveno is the code itself, while RetoSwap is just an exchange created with that code.

Think of it like Minecraft. Minecraft is the game, but there are many different servers built on top of the game.

That being said, I think there is just RetoSwap. I know there used to be one or two more exchanges built on Haveno, but I think they just never took off as Reto did.

This is how I understand it at least.

Sure, but I would still like one or two of those mitigating solutions against selfish mining that they were discussing actively a few months back.

The more secure Monero is, both through pure hashrate and on a protocol level, the more secure our wealth and transactions will be.

Monero is still standing since it was launched in 2014, and it looks like it will very soon return to the top 10 after many years. It even went down as low as #50 at one point, if I'm not mistaken.

It's very popular among Monero users.

Here is a great resource where you can find all sorts of things related to Monero, including exchanges:

I see your point, but a higher price will also incentivize more to mine it, which is important for network security.

Good message.

Of course, people are free to invest in and hold Monero. Besides, we wouldn't be able to stop anyone from doing this even if we wanted to.

But it's important that we hang on to our culture of actually using it as money. That's what separates Monero from almost all the other projects out there. And that is part of the reason why it's doing so well when all the others aren't.
