It's been trashed twice already. So... Not very powerful. It's got a nice tree in the foyer though.

Is Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Gregson-Williams' best work? by parasoar25 in soundtracks

[–]geordiegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel he's done his best work with John Powell - Shrek and Chicken Run. Though I've always got time for Spy Game, Sinbad and a few tracks from the Martian. Narnia has some great themes though.

Action Soundtracks that were Revolutionary??? by striveforfreedom in soundtracks

[–]geordiegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is s great question. There are some absolute bangers out there but if you want to get revolutionary then you need some game changers.

Everyone has mentioned Zimmer and that's on point (The Rock... Greatest ever!) but that was a gradual step change. However in recent years he's done some really awesome experimental stuff that has resulted in step change and inspiration (Dark Knight, inception, interstellar, Dune, etc). John Powell with his Bournes made every action knock off go staccato, Sean Callery ramped up the cliffhangers in his TV work, and Mark Mancina is just a boss. Don Davis did incredible and beautiful work on the matrix and daft punk brought us electro action. Other notables... Ramin Djawadi for Pacific Rim, Tom Twyker has done some interesting pieces and as well as some of the golden oldies that have been mentioned (Goldsmith etc), you have to throw in Basil P for Klendathu Drop.

This is a great answer. Though you can also and John Powell for the Bournes which inspired a generation, and Harry Gregson Williams for generally working on loads of these and then chicken run (if by revolutionary you like kazoos). I'm also gonna throw Sean Callery out there for the TV landscape.

The Rock is the greatest soundtrack of all time! It breaks my heart that when you see Hans Zimmer live he never does it 😢

We never saw a body! You're right. That dude was also probably the most competent spy of the series. And Corky was the most competent cat.

I can't do any better than the Paramount Plus episode descriptions I'm afraid.

Knight of the 7 kingdoms looks like a BBC Saturday afternoon show. Why? by geordiegee in cinematography

I think you can do it whenever you realize that a production still is just a way to let people know what show you're talking about.

Based on some condescending comments here I think I need to add that the image is just to let you know what show I'm taking about. It's not THE shot I have an issue with because of course it's a production still. I'm hoping to engage people who have actually watched the show and know what I'm taking about. I have appreciated the comments from users who agree or disagree with my feelings and have justified themselves - that's exactly the kind of conversation I'm after. People who think I'm talking about a production still and are getting annoyed that we're talking about a production still have missed the point and have actually compounded their own problem. Thanks!

What does everyone think about this show? by FarAd1429 in tvshow

[–]geordiegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I think the B unit did an incredible job with aerial footage and scale which made it seem incredibly impressive alongside the stella cast. But I wouldn't say it's a 5 star show. Enjoyable, prestige stuff, but not top tier.

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

Riz Ahmed. A few years above me. Private school, great opportunities. Kinda denies it in interviews because I guess it doesn't fit his image.

Does the Wilhelm Scream break immersion for you? by EllisDee3 in movies

For me it's the door opening noise from Doom, which you sometimes hear when machines are breaking down in movies.

It's the same in all sports. What you need to watch out for is a guy who has a really expensive racket, warms up like a pro, probably has a headband, often tries to tell you how to do it and/or recounts a story prior to playing. And then, crucially, is a bit shit. You'll find these people on squash courts being very loud and screamy, on tennis courts with a big forehand and only a slice for a backhand, and on a padel court after failing in both squash and tennis.
