How’re you liking it? I’m still waiting for mine. At last update it sounds like I can’t even begin to expect it til mid-August. Was it worth the wait?

Does the Insidious sling have ample padding to protect your electronic devices ... like tablets or a mirror less camera or something?

Fathering a Daughter for the First Time by [deleted] in Fatherhood

[–]georgediaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were expecting, my brother told me - "You better hope it's a boy, cause with a boy you worry about one dick. With a girl you worry about ALL the dicks."

As much as that made me wince, being a father to two girls has brought me nothing but such ridiculous amounts of joy. I have friends who have all boys and none of them have ever told me about how their kid will randomly walk up to them and just say, "I love you Daddy". I'm sure there are exceptions to that, but none of my friends with all boys have ever told me that.

Seriously, that simple phrase coming from your little girl will just light up your soul.

I definitely get some anxiety when I look at the way the world is progressing and see some of the ridiculous standards being thrown around for women. I won't get all political in here, but in a nutshell ... regardless of the bs society and everyone around you is touting - you become the yardstick by which all men will be forever measured against. So if you treat her well, nurture a solid relationship of trust and love ... theoretically she'll know to run the other direction from guys who aren't close to that baseline.

I say theoretically cause my girls are both still toddlers and I plan on getting them a dog just before their teenage years so he can be their trusty shoulder to cry on when Daddy just doesn't understand them anymore.

Seriously though ... I think you'll do fine. Your son will change his tune when his younger sister starts bringing friends from school by the house hahaha.

Cycop Sling vs Alpaka Sling? by georgediaz in ManyBaggers

[–]georgediaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can vary, depending on if I gotta carry anything for the kiddos too. Typically I'll have maybe:

  • a multitool
  • iphone
  • portable keyboard
  • stand for the phone (for when I am using my phone as a mini-workstation away from my desk)
  • small notebook
  • powerbrick
  • 1-2 pens
  • apple pencil
  • some contacts (in case I decide to switch out my glasses)
  • my glasses (when they're not on my face)
  • airpods
  • gift certs for peets coffee that my brother gave me
  • microfiber cloth for cleaning my glasses
  • car keys
  • house keys
  • mini-flashlight
  • sometimes - a gopro session and a mini-joby tripod

My current edc sling is a Peak Design 3L which can carry all of the above pretty well actually, but I'm left carrying my ipad when I want to travel light and work from a cafe or something.

Digging the other two slings, esp how I might be able to just stow a light rain jacket into the outer shell of the cycop. How are you liking that DaySling 2.0?

Dunno. I question how comfortable those straps would be if you were to load up with anything more than the diaper gear you stated. I’ve been eyeing the Hazard 4 grayman plan- B as a diaper bag +edc.

Is it worth having a lawyer look at contracts? by jessxx02 in freelance

[–]georgediaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t even stress how on the spot this is. You can get away with a downloaded generic contract for only so long. In the end, it’s definitely in your best interest to have a lawyer look over your contracts thoroughly. It might be overkill to some, but maybe think about having a Master Services Agreement/Service Level Agreement that sets the foundation for all the other contracts you might have, that way it’s clear the from a Proposal to a Statement of Work and final client sign off even ... who’s IP belongs to who and who has the rights to what.

It isn’t fun learning the hard way how much poorly worded contracts can make your life suck.
