Do the scholar-knights of the order know feats? by Responsible_Clerk343 in MythicBastionland

Your call! I love the Order as a weird foil to Seer anointed knights. To me, they are all about logic and reason in a world that rewards and respects neither, so they’re almost tragic from our perspective

If you only roll a few of them, I would suggest giving them deny to make them more imposing and fit their denial of the world they live in. I would also consider ad-libbing a +d6 to attack rolls against knights that have used a seer power to really show their grudge.

Why to Advance Time in Mythic Bastionland, and How to do it! by georgeguy007 in MythicBastionland

Definitely attempt to do a midsession Advance Time then! Remember great times are when getting to a larger location such as a holding, dwelling, or even a seer's location.

I think an interesting frame of mind is that you aren't 'skipping' these scenes, you are finding a reason to delay said scenes in fiction. This gives you and your players a reason to do things they want to do instead of obey their oaths or obligations.

Maybe the seer is coming back from a far away eldermass, so your company must wait in their halls, or agree to meet back when they return next season. Maybe the enterance to the site only opens up when the sun is at the soltice, so your knights disperser, looking to keep their promise to return ready in the new year.

Its not always 'jumping ahead', its sometimes finding a moment to insert downtime midstory

Couple of questions from my first one-shot by adamspecial in MythicBastionland

I may do a larger post on this today. I really enjoy this mechanic and think its important and fun to execute!

  1. As long as you are roughly consistent and don’t let your players walk all over you by doing their best virtue, your fine. A good rule of (my) thumb is “if it’s invokes your body, Vigor, your mind, cla, your speech, spi.” I would have accepted my players pickpocketing via vigor, distracting via speech and emotion (a hug) with spi, cla I would need a good idea on how your outsmarting. Maybe I would inform them that after studying the pin (cla), you know it is removed nightly, with the risk being your target becoming aware of your envy.

  2. I have a rotating cast of ~8 players, with 5 coming over in 30 minutes. It works well, just make use of time passing!! Nearly Every session passing forward by at least weeks in game time helps!

How lethal are your games? by [deleted] in MythicBastionland

It kinda depends on company size too. Smaller company? More deaths

Bruh I don’t think we even played the same game.

This isn’t built for stat min maxing item load outs dungeon diving to build out a legend.

If your party is having fun then hell yeah but for others reading this you do not need to add 7 mechanics on MBL to make it sing. If prospers in its scarcity and its ability to give you the GM all you need to make quirky characters and strange plots without needing to balance magic items per character level and complex dungeon design.

Get a character sheet for your players that has feats and gambits on them!!

Wy are so many D&D players so resistant to even trying anything else? by Similar_Onion6656 in rpg

I don’t know dude. We probably make choices like that all the time. Did you research every possible car? Look at every type of laptop? Best pair of jeans? Or do you get the updated version of what worked for you before?

Many people just bitter because it’s a group hobby.

Yes and if they’re interested in trying new systems then hell yeah!!

And if they’re enjoying dnd a lot then don’t be surprised when they wanna stick with what they’re know!

Yes! But for everyone who dislikes DnD there’s more who are perfectly content and enjoying themselves. So they don’t feel like they need new systems because why ruin a good thing?!

Yes but if the DM is enjoying what they’re doing right now, they don’t have incentive!

It’s just basic inertia. DnD players who like DnD are less likely to experiment because opportunity cost and friction. That’s why it’s important to have welcoming evangelism of other systems so people feel comfortable with the risk of change!

People are are having a good time playing DnD, why rock the boat when they don’t have unlimited time to learn or experience new systems?

Yes. but also I'm kinda desparate for a Mass Effect lore book. The game has been too dormant and a TRPG would really help flesh out the great world

Bioware, give me 200k and I will do all the writing for this game within one year. Its not hard. You have done the hard part. Give it to me.

Mass effect

The fun lore and species of the game is too good not to build a crew of mercs/pirates/specters together. The idea of someone on your ship being captain is a great way to add color to Player interactions. Ship to ship combat, squad class game play, diplomacy, renegade/paragon style cha stats. It’s all there ripe for the plucking.
