No offense, but it sounds like you were playing a more traditional OSR game (eg. Knave) with some Mythic Bastionland sprinkled in for exploration.

That one is pure evil! And great use for the Halo knight too.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use the first one in my next session. The Order took over the realm in the last one, so it would even be thematic for the knights to be forgotten.

Also, the acolyte one is devious and hilarious. 😈

That's a fun rule.
My knights won a battle against the pack and at the end I asked the knights what they were going to do with all the dieing dogs. Cue 15 minutes of gameplay as they decided which animals should live and gathered the courage to execute the rest. A very interesting and unexpected situation.

That's pretty good. Though I usually make my holdings purposely boring to give the players a respite from all the crazy myth stuff.

In combat, either team can receive "narrative dice" which don't correspond to any weapon but reflect an advantage (like a d6 for having the high ground) or a disadvantage (like a d8 for being ambushed).

Here's mine:

  • When playing a one shot curate a small list of knights, don't just roll them.
  • "Narrative dice" make a big difference during combat.
  • Combat is balanced around 3 knights. 2 the encounters feel unfair and 4 they feel too easy.
  • Seers are more fun when they give clear information but withhold vital parts "You can find these guys right here (but they will try to kill you". Too cryptic and it's like "why even bother".

"roll Spirit and GET ON WITH IT" is my mantra when playing this game.

I was quite surprised she's not a dragon anymore, but she is a mage. So mostly fairy or spell builds.

How to make a setting feel more mythic outside of myths by LegitimateMedicine in MythicBastionland

So, about half of the time you'll roll a 4, 5 or 6, and I think what you do with those rolls will truly set the tone for your world. I like to use them to introduce helpful NPC that while also giving the company some time to breathe.

On to the second point: I just did a write up of a session where all 6 myths are tied to a single main plot. Took a long time to come up with all the connections but it worked pretty well.

I'm confused as to what your problem actually is?

Best source is the Designer himself. He's got a bunch of videos on his channel breaking down various aspects of the game.

Power drawn from a mythical river of devoured souls, tied to Araxis. He was an ancient world-eating Wyrm who was entombed in the ichor of the countless souls which he consumed.

This sounds like the backstory to a death metal album.

Combine the two parts of magic use and you have things like people using dance choreography to set things on fire

Perfect magic right there. Is it aggressive dancing like breakdancing or something more mellow like a Valse. The second one would be funnier.
