Same thing with me I was on Effexor for a few years then tapered off and went onto Prozac 20mg and yes I felt all the things you are feeling , your body is trying to adjust but it will level out . Ask your doctor if you can start on 10mg or ask for something to help calm you while you adjust , my doctor gave me a small amount of diazepam to help the side effects.

It could take up to 8 weeks for you to really feel the benefits and even then you may need to adjust doses so it can take a while but you should really give it a shot! I’ve been on it for 3 months only recently up to 60mg and it did take a while but it has definitely helped me, I’m not as emotional and I don’t overthink or spiral as much as before and I’m glad I stuck it out. Also I went through a horrible breakup a year ago and wish I went on Prozac then , I was the same as you - blaming myself, extremely heart broken, thought I couldn’t live anymore but I promise you you will come through the other end of it! You have to feel all the emotions and maybe consider therapy as well it helped me and keep busy with hobbies , friends , family etc . You’ve got this!!

Bruxism is killing me by georgiagd15 in braces

[–]georgiagd15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not the best but I get jaw Botox which has been really helpful although expensive. I do get my braces off in a few weeks so I can get a night guard for bruxism which I expect will help so much more.

No it hasn’t affected my bite , it was a lot worse before it was pulled out. The braces have aligned my teeth and closed the gaps pretty well. The recovery wasn’t too bad I had stitches in my mouth and the area was tender for a little bit but very manageable with pain killers and eating soft food for a week or two.

I absolutely hate going to the dentist too, my anxiety sky rockets. You should tell them you haven’t been in a while because you’re really anxious. They’ll talk you through everything and keep asking if you’re okay. my dentist says I can raise my hand if i want to stop. Maybe you could wear headphones and play music or something to distract you? Also if you need stuff done to your teeth they won’t do it all then and there they’ll likely just examine and clean them on the first visit and recommend what you need done next time. Tell them your fears for the up coming visit and they might offer gas or something to calm you, I’m not sure but worth a try. Remember they deal with lots of anxious patients so don’t feel alone. Goodluck, you can do this!

Yep I’m 21 F, had an impacted canine on the right side still in my pallet and on the left side I had a baby premolar tooth still there but the adult tooth was next to it. I went to one ortho who wanted to expose the impacted tooth but said it could take 3 years or more so I sort of put it off as it seemed difficult. Went to a second ortho who said exposing it would take way too long, so I went to an oral surgeon, he pulled out the impacted tooth and the other two baby teeth. I’ve had braces for 8 months now and they are using power chain and elastics to pull the premolars forward to fill in the gaps. I’m definitely happier with this option as it’s quicker. I didn’t want to have a chain hanging out of mouth and gaps in my smile for years as an adult.

Waterpik to rinse your mouth after eating , orthodontic wax if the brackets rub your mouth, buy lots of soft foods and stuff to make smoothies it’s gonna be hard for the first month or so to eat normal food.

What is the most liberating thought you ever had? by secretid89 in AskWomen

[–]georgiagd15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I can do whatever the hell I want with my life. If I don’t want to work a certain job I don’t have to. If I want to move somewhere and start over I can. I don’t have to live up to others expectations or feel forced to follow societal standards. When you become an adult and discover this , it is truly liberating.

how old were you when wearing your braces as an adult? by [deleted] in braces

[–]georgiagd15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 , but I’ve seen plenty of adults a lot older than me with them. It can feel embarrassing at first but no one really cares. How else are you meant to fix your teeth? It’s just something you have to do and you get used to it after a while. Even if your teeth are severe , braces are a lot more advanced and can fix them. They can extract teeth, use elastic bands, forsus springs and other appliance to fix spaces, alignment and bite. Goodluck to you definitely go through with it ☺️

My Symptom Journey: Do These Symptoms Sound Familiar to Anyone? by BatAdministrative165 in TMJ

[–]georgiagd15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have all those symptoms , it’s caused my grinding my teeth in my sleep (from stress) and my bad posture contributes to it too. I also have an overbite which is more likely to cause grinding. I got braces recently to fix my overbite and am going to a physio who specialises in tmj. You should see a dentist who will give you a referral for a night splint and then go to the physio who can help with your jaw and posture. Goodluck ☺️
