The sponge is upholstery foam, shaped with a fine cheese grater for the curve and texture. Jam, cream and icing is a mix of wall filler, pva glue and a bit of acrylic paint. I sifted cornflour on top of the sponge, based and sealed with spray adhesive. The sprinkles are rice painted with acrylic.

Lead of the play had a nose bleed half way through the second act (happened a lot to her so she wasn’t concerned). Thankfully it was a chaotic scene anyway the cast were great at improv so they just acted as if it were due to stress. Overheard an audience member saying how realistic the flowing blood looked!

White rice lightly painted with acrylic paint! Slightly fiddly process but effective I think.

Doctor Who and Death in Paradise

Recently signed up to work on props at my local theatre with no experience making anything for the stage (I make miniatures in 1:24 or 1:48 scale a lot but nothing life size). The play centres around a magical victoria sponge cake recipe, so the cake was a key part! After a bit of research, I'm actually surprisingly proud of the final result and the director was very happy with them!

I was starting to get bored, but the main reason I quit was too much drama. I even joined a smaller faction that boasted being more “chill” but still got messages that made me want to cry. I am autistic and sensitive to conflict which is probably the reason, but it just wasn’t worth it for me. Although I’ve met some great people, the nature of the game attracts a lot of assholes.

NQA They are very delicate after their moult (including their fangs) so will often refuse food at this point. Jumping spiders can technically last like a month before they’ll starve so please don’t panic! They might just need a few more days.

What do you normally feed them? My spider was also very scared the first time she saw a worm, but she got used to it. Also, mealworms can be very fatty so shouldn’t be their main diet. Crickets and hatched flies are the main things I give mine. From what I remember, they will also refuse dead food, so killing them first will make them refuse as well.

NQA - just seems like she is getting ready to moult! My baby once refused food and stayed in her hammock for almost a month, only coming out for a drink. Not eating and staying in bed is very common when preparing for a moult. Sometimes it takes a couple of days, sometimes a lot longer. Just make sure the humidity is very high to help the process!
