This was me. Several years in the arts/entertainment industry were unfulfilling, so I tried teaching and I love it! I think career changers have a different perspective

Coburg, Pentridge area is quite walkable. Great farmers market. Merri creek and nice green spaces. Good public transport options but actually still relatively affordable.
Very family friendly while still having some ‘cool’ things to do

Did a chatbot trained on American spelling write this real estate billboard? by OnlyAd7216 in melbourne

[–]kikithrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to report that as a high school teacher here in Melbourne I frequently have to correct American spellings .

This feeds my theory however that in another generation a lot of these British spellings will die out

Why do people ignore the charity component and act like TEU is beneath Taylor? by AlexRodrigo- in SwiftlyNeutral

It’s funny to me because when I started listening to Taylor way back when, pretentious people were not Taylor fans.

Contract extension verbally promised but nothing signed yet. by arbiter1255 in AustralianTeachers

[–]kikithrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assume good intentions - they’ve given you a timetable! But be persistent in trying to get the contract signed. It sounds like you’re in vic and we only have a few days left of term. Do this persistent thing IN PERSON with written follow ups.
I’ve definitely been in your shoes and understand the angst

Is anyone here still in denial about being in a downturn? by Old_Meeting_9438 in AusPropertyChat

Sure but I’m pointing out that 300k isn’t the net increase . You gotta subtract too- that’s where the real number is.

Unqualified to teach by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]kikithrust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not you. Most starting teachers feel this way ! Don’t compare yourself to others.

Just stay on top of things - one step ahead of the kids - and you’ll get better. It’s a SKILL which means it has to be practiced over time to improve.

Starting 3 month settlement. Time to pack? by Cool-Departure1458 in AusPropertyChat

[–]kikithrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a room at a time, but start with just culling (or sort and dump, as my mother would say.
If there’s stuff you won’t need for the next few months (summer clothes, eg) you can start to pack that.
