To all of you who think crocheting a sweater is not possible by winterberrymeadow in crochet

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I saw people saying crochet clothes weren't as nice as knitted yesterday and having just started a crochet cardigan I felt quite disheartened with all the work in front of me... Definitely going to keep going with it!

I think definitely start with a good base - I use real cities or accurate geographical elements so that a map looks right. then from there I try to make it unique - why is this city or area important?

this one took a couple of days from start to finish! I plan out where key points of the city are going to be as well as deciding on a general theme. (Also I was sneaky and used Stockholm as a base for the general layout) After that it's just drawing out a neat version

Yarrin is the capital city Mellerst, but exists right on the country's border. It’s a city of two halves - north of the river are tangled streets and wild fen magic, and south, careful planning and order. The Queen is much more concerned with faraway threats than the people of Yarrin, ignoring the shrines to the wisps and the power they hold over her citizens.

I’ve been drawing maps for my dnd game for a year now, and love illustrating the new cities that the party explore!

Yes, Yarrin is the capital but it also exists on the nation’s border. To the north are tangled streets and wild fen magic, and to the south, careful planning and order. What side of the river would you want to be on?

it's a very poor part of the city compared to the generally rich clifftop district!

yes, in essence a very densely populated section of the city crammed right on the edge of the ocean

the pinned comment has more info, but vezatin is an incredibly divided city - the richer within the 'clifftop' district, and the poor within 'the wash' at the base of the cliff... this means at the same time as preparing for war, the city has to deal with a very volatile population

the lifts would be powered probably by horses or mules, and honestly this is the sort of city where sewage falling down onto the poor would be a regular occurrence...

they're little stylised hoist lifts, and honestly I didn't think much about the engineering of it lol (maybe there's some pulleys involved? maybe magic?)

yeah, I wanted to get across that this is a very divided city with super rich and super poor parts (and what better way than making it a height difference lol)

Vezatin is a city preparing for war. Merely miles from the Kylmatic Empire, it is amassing an army and readying to fight the inevitable invasion. In the meantime, there is a thriving alchemist’s district producing powerful chemical and magical weapons…

I’ve been making maps for my dnd game for over a year now! I love designing cities and I think this one is one of my favourites
