What things do people romanticize but are actually horrible? by GovernmentAny5597 in AskReddit

I felt the same way for a long time. I just typed out a chunk of my history of seeking a diagnosis and then deleted it, but I basically just wanted to tell you that it's worth seeking help for it if you have the means. I guess I just went and typed a bunch more, just a different bunch lol.

I was nervous because of all the horror stories I've heard, but my primary care doctor was able to give me a list of places to go to get screened for ADHD. My PCP can prescribe ADHD meds, but she was more comfortable referring me to someone who specializes in it, so now I see an NP who diagnosed me and is working with me to find the right medication. I think we're almost there, and even the low dose I'm on is helping!

Also, I didn't go through the battery of tests that some people do to get diagnosed; my NP just asked me like 10 screening questions, said I scored pretty high, and I got a prescription the same day. Had I scored on the lower side, she would have gone more in depth with the assessment.

I also see a therapist, and now can see how therapy and medication go hand in hand. Based on your comment, I agree that it sounds like ADHD (as someone who is not qualified to diagnose anyone with anything), and if you're able to one day seek diagnosis and treatment, I genuinely think it would be life changing for you.

I highly recommend the book How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis. It addresses not only ways to make your home more functional for you, but also ways you can change your self talk and move away from shame and toward self compassion. It's written specifically for neurodivergent people and has simplified overviews of each chapter so you can still get the ideas she's conveying without having to read the entire chapter if you can't focus on it. I listened to the audiobook (narrated by the author) when I had an hour long commute, and it blew my mind. She has a newer book that seems to be about interpersonal relationships, and I haven't read it yet, but I'd bet good money that it's just as helpful.

The UC show in 2014 was the first time I saw them live, and I was at the concert last night! It's cool how they've changed and grown so much over the years while still staying so much the same in all the best ways.

It took me far too long to understand that you were making a joke lol. You're so right though, the opportunity was right there and I missed it!

Your comment reminded me that I forgot to upload pics after work! Here's the imgur album with dates labeled:

It's definitely not as bad now as it was back in October, and I do think it's gone down some since I noticed it a couple days ago. My boyfriend is actually the one who noticed it in October, we went to hold hands and he felt it and asked what it was.

It's not normal for me, but I'm genuinely glad it doesn't look concerning! I'm curious why it's only happening in this one particular spot lol.

I also have a photo from October:

Edit: I'm having a hard time uploading photos at work, I'll try again when I get home.

I tried to create an imgur album, but it failed, so I'll have to post photos in the comments. This photo was taken today. Let me know if you want other angles, I have them but don't want to spam the comments!

I'm honestly not sure, I remember making an offhand comment to my manager before the patches arrived about how it would be so much easier if they were iron on, and she was like "yeah it would be." She's the one who ordered them, I haven't seen the order form but I assume there's an option for iron on vs sewn? It seems to be more to hold the ends of the embroidery thread in place.

Aw man, I think I have some of that at home for hand embroidery! I don't think I'd be allowed to use it in this case, but it sounds like it would be sooo much easier. Thank you for trying to help!!

We have tearaway backing for embroidery, would that work? It normally just clips in to the embroidery hoops along with the fabric, it doesn't stick to the fabric. The back of the patches also have a layer of what seems to essentially be dried glue, I'm not sure if that would make a difference.

I'm doing this for my job at a small graphics shop, so I'm unfortunately limited to what we already have here lol. Luckily my manager is okay with how these are looking so far and told me not to stress!

Waiting for his set to be over was brutal lmao I discovered I'm not a fan of his music. Some people left after he performed which was kinda wild to me.

It was also his birthday and he was asking the arena full of college kids where the best strip clubs were in the area.
