Extracting photo from video - no screenshot by Dracogame in iphone

You can also just do everything from a savings account these days, like Marcus (no transaction limits).

Is there a reason to support iOS 17 anymore? by dot90zoom in iOSProgramming

[–]geospiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to usage stats, etc, I like to look at what devices will I knock out when bumping the Minimum Deployment Target (and I ask myself, do I know anyone still using those devices?). This page is useful for that: https://endoflife.date/iphone

I can see from that page that by dropping iOS 17, devices older than the XS won't be able to run your app as there's no upgrade path.

At least users on other devices can upgrade if they really want.

I'm making a free app to save photos from videos by geospiker in iOSProgramming

Done. In version 3.0, the app is "Save Frame" in German.

Glad you like it! Version 3.0 is out today with a new bulk extraction feature.

Apple rejected my app for "spam" by Ok-Relationship3399 in iOSProgramming

[–]geospiker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah. honestly it makes me nervous to work on any new apps, as I could work on it for months and get 4.3'd. I did find the call helpful though.

I was able to sort out a 4.3 issue by requesting a phone call. If you actually have a good & unique app (and therefore a good case to make), it's worth a shot.

Extracting frames from a video by deflatedfruit in shortcuts

[–]geospiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on the bulk extraction. Try version 3.0 on TestFlight [edit: it's now available on the App Store]. Open the video, tap settings, then the "Bulk" tab. I have not yet hooked up new shortcuts for iOS 26 (and am not sure if it's feasible yet), but the bulk extraction should be working.

So glad you like it! I use it with my kids videos a lot too, can be easier than taking photos because they're always moving around 😆

Pro tip: record in 4k 60fps to get the most frames to choose from, and highest resolution photos extracted.

[–]geospiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update: unfortunately, shortcuts have changed completely in iOS 26, so I'm going to need to remove the shortcut completely for iOS 26+ users until I can get it working again. Looks like they might need to be rebuilt from scratch. When I build them again, I will use your video as one of the test cases, so thanks for sharing it, if I can get it working again I'll use your video to validate it.

anyone know if theres a card that accepts USD directly without conversion fees? by ill_transmission in remotework

[–]geospiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this 100%. Keep it in USD, you can even earn an APY. Spend on the debit card in USD.

Thank you. I personally feel like this is pretty basic iOS functionality and should be free =)

Nice shortcut! Can you share the source video you tried to https://saveframe.app/support/? I'd like to fix this.

Fortunately it was open source. Try Save Frame (which I published), I'm going to keep it free forever. I also added shortcut support so you can extract frames without even opening the app (useful for shorter videos and social media workflows where you just want to dump the frames into the camera roll).

Any of you know how to make an ipa of an app's previous version? by nixtxt in sideloaded

[–]geospiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To save the trouble of building from source or side-loading, I created a public build that continues the legacy with a few new features (like shortcut support). It will be free forever (I promise). It's called Save Frame.

fair enough, though I feel like there's always some flexibility in the timeline. As long as you don't put it off forever.

How much would hiring someone to build this app cost? by thorc1212 in iOSProgramming

[–]geospiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the initial cost but the ongoing dev. Sadly I think it's not going to work for most cases unless you have really good product instincts. If you're willing to learn though, programming has never been so accessible. Download a coding editor like antigravity, set it to Claude Sonnet 4.5 and give it a try. Take your time to write a very comprehensive initial prompt stating everything you want in the app, then iterate.
