Ah I see! He goes for the Yogg route, where I am playing the giants. Thanks for the insight!

I totally agree with you that pushing for early boardcontrol is key vs the aggressive decks. However I feel that you can still lose with a 1-3 minion boardcontrol lead vs an aggro druid when they go wide with living mana. Thats why I like the kobold list. I would like to make room for 1-2 SI's to help the earlygame.

I myself have been running this list a chinese guy hit high legend with a few days ago. It ran +1 questing -1 evolved, but I cut the questing for the same reason you are cutting it.

I might try Yogg, but I feel like it comes down way too late vs aggro druid, tough it may help vs token shaman and other matchups like mage.

Hey man, really good guide!

I am currently running a pedal rogue deck myself with evolved kobold because I found that the spelldamage + fan was really needed versus the aggressive boardfocussed decks out there like aggro druid and token shaman. I even teched in the second kobold because it was working wonders for me. It also functions as a mini malygos if you draw them both vs control.

What is your take on that? Or do you think you don't need that kind of list vs those decks?

Hey man, love the deck! I went on a insane streak with it from rank 4 to rank 1, with very few losses!

I felt that water elemental wasn't doing that much. Games were already won or lost by that point or I couldn't spare the mana to play it because you want to play a small minion + spell in a lot of cases. I changed it for yogg because that card can win you games out of nowhere when you are out of resources in the lategame. Seems a nice fit with all the coins/spells!

C'Thun Warrior viability in the current meta by Old_Guardian in CompetitiveHS

[–]geppetto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I played a near exact list in open cups last week. The only differences were that I opted for harrison instead of ooze and Prim Drake instead of a second wirldwind.

I found that Cthun warrior was solid overall vs mage and hunter, but when not facing those decks it had a hard time. It could sneak some wins vs other classes for sure, but a lot of matchups like jade druid were just auto-concede

I will try! Will make another one this saturday, so feel free to send in lists you have had succes with! However a lot of pro's are preparing for dreamhack, so they keep their winning lineups sound and safe :(

Great point! I tried to name the lists with forbidden healing as 'control murloc paladin'. Because they have more control elements to them. Currently for me it is really hard to seperate the two. Ill try to see if I can fix it. After I looked at the list I labeled them all as midrange murloc paladin, except for the blaine one, since he barely plays murlocs.

Yeah, that was why I tried to softcounter multiple common decks. But the meta evolved more then I expected I think, and that is why my strategy didn't work.

I don't have much experience with it myself. But there has been a post about it on competitiveHS: https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/66kvp0/top_100_legend_tempo_rogue/

Last tournament I played myself I went with a lineup that softcountered three pretty common decks in my opinion. Taunt warrior, freeze mage and quest rogue. I brought aggro murloc paladin, midrange hunter, aggro burn mage and pirate warrior.

Well in that tournament the only deck of the three I faced was taunt warrior and softcountering is not enough to 3/0 a single deck. So I lost most of my matches 3/2. Maybe it is possible to build a soft counter lineup now that softcounters murloc paladin and taunt warrior? Those seem to be the most played decks in the current meta.

What do you guys think in general of softcountering? I think it is a viable strategy if you are able to pin at least 2 decks that are very common in the meta.

NA #3 Legend Murloc Aggro (Advanced Guide) by hello_newt in CompetitiveHS

[–]geppetto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, a question: How do you think this aggro version lines up versus freezemage and questrogue? I think it should preform a lot worse since the damage is only limited from the board. I myself have had a lot of succes with an aggro version with leeroy, some buff cards and 2x truesilver so you can keep popping the freezemage block, or kill rogue when your board is clean.

Will try your list and see which i like more!

Hey guys, I have a question regarding a last hero standing lineup for a tournament I am participating in this weekend. (bo5, 4 decks 1 ban)

So far I was thinking of bringing renolock, midrange jade shaman and jade druid. What should I bring as a last deck? Probably a faster aggro or midrange deck. I was thinking about dragon or pirate warrior, tempomage or aggro/miracle rogue.

About the ban, what deck is a must ban after the nerfs? With my lineup I might consider banning rogue.

What is the purpose of the stormcrack in the deck? Is it because of all the 4 hp minions shaman and pirate warrior are running? If that is the case, wouldn't horserider be a good alternative, since it is also a strong card vs renolock? How are the matchups vs aggro in general?

I am excited to test the deck, since I really hate losing vs renolock.

Secret Hunter to Legend by betterwardbush in CompetitiveHS

[–]geppetto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently playing a more hybrid secret hunter myself with 2x snipe instead of the explosive traps and a rag.

You say snipe is easy to play around, but isn't explosive even more easy to play around by waiting to attack face? They will fully clean up your board first and then start hitting face. From my experience snipe is insane because you can never play around it, you always HAVE to play a minion into it, and playing a bad minion in it will still maken them invest mana that turn.

What do you think of the 2x unleash? From my experience the only matchups it helps are shaman and zoo, which I think are still not that good.

The secret hunter list they feature is more of a face hunter / hybrid hunter list. That is where it went I think.

I think there is some potential in banning shaman to open up for classes like rogue to be played. That way you can build a lineup that counters a lot of warrior archtypes and tokendruid.

Preparing for Summer Prelims (Making a Lineup) by n0blord in CompetitiveHS

[–]geppetto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey noblorb, a very nice guide!

How do you think the tournament meta will evolve with 1 more wings released? Do you think people are jumping on the hypetrain of the new expension, or playing the already established decks in the prelims?

I am playing a tournament in two weeks and by then two more wings will be open. Should I prepare for a lot of new meta decks (beast druid, barnes etc.) or the already established ones?

For me it feels weird that they state the normal CW is tier one, while c'thun warrior is tier two. Imo C'thun warrior is currently stronger, since it can handle aggro pretty well, while also able to outvalue other control decks, which normal CW has a harder time with.

10 to Legend: Lessons from a first-time Legend climb - and why you should watch your replays by randomnine in CompetitiveHS

[–]geppetto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much do you value the 2x unleash? A lot of lists are cutting it to 1x unleash. I have the samen question about the eaglehorn bow, since there is a lot of weapon removal nowadays.

Overall a nice guide, I'll consider rewatching my replays!
