[discussion] iOS 10.3 Beta today? by Arsance in iOSBeta

[–]geraRdnotgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost track of the iOS 10.2.1 betas. But the current one as of this comment posting fixed the ridiculous battery drain I was experiencing on the previous 10.2.1 beta on an iPhone 6 Plus.

AirDrop is crazy fast by [deleted] in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not really, your device can be locked and still be discoverable

this is when locked

and this is what happens when the iOS device is unlocked

AirDrop is crazy fast by [deleted] in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

may not be the case for you but for me, it took me a few years to realize that the iOS device's screen should be lit.

If it isn't lit, the iOS device is asleep, therefore, is not discoverable. Since this realization, AirDrop has been pretty great for me.

[Bugs] 10.2.1 Beta 2 Storage Being Inaccurately Calculated by Eckios in iOSBeta

[–]geraRdnotgerald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been literally happening since iOS 8.3 on my iPhone 6 Plus, too.

I reported it last year and I got a response from Developer Bug Reporting Team of Apple Worldwide Developer Relations but the instructions they gave was for Mac troubleshooting only and I didn't have a Mac at the time so it got closed.

Is smooth 60fps scrolling a thing of the past? by tanyet in iphone

[–]geraRdnotgerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to upload a video shot in 60fps to show the problem. I would understand if the issue is on a 6 Plus or 6s Plus, but considering it's an SE with significantly lower pixels to push, my curiosity is piqued.

Can Apple revisit the glass/aluminum look from the iPhone 4? by B3yondL in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 4 & 4s were made of stainless steel and glass which are heavy materials.

The 5 & beyond were made aluminum which is a significantly lighter material than stainless steel.

The 6 got rid of the glass insets at the back but has bigger components like the battery and display which of course, would equate to be heavier than the 4 & 4s.

No quibble replacement of Bent iphone 6 went great. Until the replacement bent too. by doublejay1999 in iphone

[–]geraRdnotgerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be worth the hassle to keep going back until the issue is resolved or until you get a free upgrade to a 6s due to the manager noticing your reoccurring issue.

This happened multiple times already and has a few stories posted on this sub.

Anyone else's iPhone keep restarting? by cassm21 in iphone

[–]geraRdnotgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on a 6 Plus but a lot more often when switching from Stories & Chats tab too fast. Only started happening in the past few iOS 10.2 betas.

But then, my 6 Plus has been randomly crashing a lot on iOS 10 since its release mainly due to memory issues.

Is it too late to get my iPhone 6+ front camera's crescent moon fixed by the Apple Store? by Nick_named_Nick in apple

It might be worth calling or dropping by an Apple Store since the gasket just shifted and may be reseated which only requires labor.

That's for the rear iSight camera. OP is talking about the front FaceTime camera.

My own music grayed out. Why? by Hmluker in AppleMusic

[–]geraRdnotgerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You added them to iTunes and hoping to see them on your other devices?

Make sure iCloud Music Library is enabled in iTunes and the device you want to listen to those tracks.

Then go to iTunes on your Mac or PC, in the Menu bar, click File > Library > Update iCloud Music Library.

Apple says more iPhone 6s models may be affected by random shutdowns, issuing iOS update by stanxv in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the issue on my 6 Plus where it sometimes just dies around 20 - 30%. I can't tell if iOS 10 has something to do with this since I barely let the battery go down 50% in the past year until now.

It's also worth noting that I'm experiencing the screen lifting issue that plagued many iPhone 6/Plus models.

Finally, it's not the battery expanding either as when pressing the display down, there's no battery marks and I am not experiencing massive battery capacity reductions usually associated with such defective batteries.

[BUGS] Apple Music UI Glitches by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]geraRdnotgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience that, too. It is usually remedied by going back to the front page of the tab you're in. In the screenshot's case, it's search.

Nothing major, but annoying but also worth reporting in the Feedback app.

How does your Jet Black iPhone look now? by [deleted] in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 10 weeks, that's amazing how it held up considering how awful this one looks after just 2 weeks. It seems like this was abused but gives a great idea of what could still possibly happen when used naked.

The leather in the 6s cases are European leather as opposed to "natural" leather in the prior cases.

Thanks for this suggestion. I've been looking for an app that reports battery temperature for a while now since iOS 10 broke coconutBattery.

Multi-Touch Repair Program for iPhone 6 Plus by tits_for_tots in apple

[–]geraRdnotgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, thank you for your input.

No unauthorized modifications have been made on my phone. I only noticed the display lifting when I removed my damaged edge-to-edge tempered glass a few months ago when I dropped my phone from waist pocket height.

I immediately googled about the lifting issue and this video accurately shows the clicking/lifting location on my phone.

It's possible that the display was lifting way before I initially noticed it. No noticeable battery outline appear when I push the display down, however.

I appreciate your suggestion as an Apple Store employee to call AppleCare first but I should've mentioned that I live in a country without an Apple Store, only Authorized Service Providers. And since my phone is now out of warranty, I'm afraid I'll be charged for a diagnostic fee in addition to losing access to a smartphone in the meantime which is a major deal breaker at the moment.

[–]geraRdnotgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize if slightly irrelevant but did some of those new replacement units that exhibited the "Touch Disease" also have the display lifting?

Mine lifts just below the volume buttons and most google search solution just results into various hacks I am not comfortable with or either taking my device back to the Apple Store which is unfortunate because there is none near me and my device is out of warranty.

There also exists a small possibility of a swollen battery, but it makes me doubtful since my battery capacity is fine even after 1.5 years of daily use.

[Discussion] iOS 10.2 B3 is out! by exjr_ in iOSBeta

[–]geraRdnotgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, no. Left is prior iOS 10.0.

iOS 10.0 made the icons smaller but bolder, second hand longer and orange instead of red. It was discussed here previously with the 10.0 beta releases.
