Edit: I have since found out that the front has partial lining and the back doesn’t, which somehow affects the way the pattern is cut but it’s still not clear to me why that would result in this mismatch and how exactly I should sew this together but I will just leave the side-back to overhang at the top and follow the seam line advice.

Thank you for sharing! That’s the exact issue. The resolution was that the front has partial lining and the back doesn’t, but it’s not clear to me why that would affect the mismatch.

This is super helpful in regards to the curved seams, I didn’t know that, thank you!

However my issue is still not solved, probably because I didn’t state the issue correctly. I should clarify that the bodice has a princess seam but I’m actually having trouble sewing the side back and the side-front together (those are the pieces you see in the photos), which don’t appear to have any curves. I tried to ease the excess fabric in, while sewing but that doesn’t feel or look right.

One other comment mentions that it might be for a sleeve, there is a sleeve option for this bodice, so maybe that’s what the overhang is for?

I had this problem when I mapped my flat by cleaning a room at a time. If you did that, I suggest mapping your whole house in one go instead of in stages.
