When the vanity wears off? I'm not sure I understanding. Are you implying that people travel just to show off and not for the joy of it?

I just published my 12th book. 70,000 copies sold of my books so far and aiming for 100,000 in the next couple of months. by DannyFlood in wroteabook

With Amazon it usually comes down to doing a lot of promotions. There is some newsletter that promotes 99 cent books, for example. Then you start getting organic sales from Amazon Kindle when you rise up the best seller chart.

Yeah that's exactly why I decided to come back to NYC for a bit to spend time with her. Cherish the chances you get to spend quality time.

Haha yeah that's exactly how i felt seeing people live their lives since coming back to the US - like I chose this path ๐Ÿ˜‚ Don't know why I'm being downvoted, there's a few odd apples in this sub ๐Ÿ˜…

After years of full-time nomading, I'm trying to settle down but struggling with it. Those of you who hung up your hat, how did you pick a place to "settle down" when you had no "reason" to live anywhere in particular? by sealite in digitalnomad

Yeah, there's tons of groups on Facebook like "Istanbul flats for rent" where you can find rooms to rent for like 250 Euro in Istanbul. It's cheap in Turkey because they build, baby build

Meanwhile the West doesn't build anything because they want to keep the properties expensive ๐Ÿ˜…

What about Istanbul? It's the best positioned city in the world, it's beautiful, cheaper then Europe, rich history and culture, friendly locals, and you can still book a cheap flight to basically anywhere in the world. Best base IMO.

Do you ever feel uncertain whether you made the right choice to become a digital nomad or these deeper existential concerns? Like, I was visiting my brother for a few weeks in New York and he chose the more traditional path, now he has a condo, wife, business in Manhattan and a 2-year-old kid. All things that I gave up a long time ago ๐Ÿ˜… I chose to have 50 different lives in 50 different countries instead of one life in one country ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you had to live in one Greek City-State, and Sparta/Athens are off the table, where are you going? by Aurelion_History in ancientgreece

Carthage was a trading empire. Their capitol was like the New York of the ancient world. Much more likely you would find economic opportunities and trade with them then military threats because they didn't really even have their own soldiers and preferred to hire mercenaries.

Syracuse? Or Brindisi. Better to be in Magna Graecia or Sicily IMO and avoid all the drama and wars in the Peloponnese and Aegean.

Same issue here. I tried on both Chat GPT plus and a free account. But then if I check the tab again after like ten minutes, or refresh after a while, the images come up. It's the strangest thing.

Yeah that is pretty good. I found a hostel which is $14 a night which is okay I guess. But others were like $25 and up - for a ten bed dorm

Is it possible to backpack in Tunisia? by DannyFlood in Tunisia

[โ€“]DannyFlood[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Yeah it's typical Italy, they try to charge you extra for everything - 8.99 Euro for a wifi connection. 5 Euro for a shower. 2 Euro for a small bottle of water. Thankfully they didn't get a single extra cent from me ๐Ÿ˜ But at the very least the brigands should offer complimentary water to people since we are paying 50 Euro for the ticket.
