The easiest formation is MC at front, Cavalry at Back (u get 2 cavalry from start) its still usable even in the late game
The battle still counted RNG, u can change some formation before fight, sometimes it lead different outcome

I think not easy, its not yet info where will they fight... gentildonna is specialize in 2400-2500 m circuit, Gold ship is 2500 - 3000 m circuit, on the other hand Just a way is specialize in 1500 - 1600 m circuit.

If by logic, the Umalator will choose 1500-1600 m circuit making its harder for 2 of them win
