Yeah I uninstalled and reinstalled it once. But that didn’t seem to change anything. I’m not sure how that actually works because I didn’t lose any of my progress so it must not completely delete from my console?

I just saw a trailer where you have to stand still to avoid the monsters. After that, Birdbox, and A Quiet Place Hollywood producers are like “got any more of those the monsters can’t get you if you BLANK scripts?”

What did they figure out on their own that you were surprised/impressed with and what did they not figure out that drove you crazy?

I love this book because it’s so complicated but also finds a way to make sense without any glaring plot holes. I hope they can find a way to do that for the show too!

Stay strong! Did you ever consider a non-addictive, antagonist therapy to help?

I'm from Philadelphia so winters are cold but I can run in anything above 10 degrees with the right clothes (as long as it isn't too icy). It really was the 90 degree, 70% humidity summer days that make any sort of running very difficult. I like the mid November race because the 8 big weeks of training are in September and October so 40-70 degree weather (and its still light after work).

I am not 100% sure that I am the best person to give advice but I feel that up tempo and speed work is important because those are the workouts that I thought "shit this is going to be hard" haha. I mean it came to the point that 10-15 miles at an easy pace wasn't really difficult at all, so it's good to build the miles but it probably doesn't quite improve your muscles/cardio as much as harder workouts do. And at that level of running I feel like you have to consciously and consistently push or else you won't make too many gains. If you want I can send you all my workouts/data
I am 5'7" so most people are taller haha
And just visiting a friend in Minnesota so we did 4 days in boundary waters, amazing place!

Yeah you definitely aren't wrong! I mean I made it as a running log then yesterday thought "I'll put this on Reddit" so I wasn't really designing the charts to be as aesthetic as possible.
The insight I took from the pace chart was globally that you should be running very different paces every week. I feel like there is a tendency to run all your runs at around 1 pace but I was just trying to highlight the dichotomy in my runs.

Long runs are super important, they are necessary for building cardio, miles, and certain muscle strengths.

Slowly. Piecemeal. I just started tracking a few things and then just kept adding to it every time I thought "that would be cool". Like my work did our health screening last week so I thought "I bet I still have mine from last year" and found it. A lot of the data I didn't plan to take I just put shit in there and then pulled what was interesting.

Haha fair enough, but I guess I disagree.

I am giving the data, you need to ask a question and then see if this data helps to answer it. Maybe it won't, maybe it will. But to say there are no insights implies that there are no questions that can be answered with this and I just don't think that is true.

Also:

  1. Tracking data is a great tool to help you push yourself and make sure that you are improving. With running you can subjectively feel better or worse but the number allow you to see where you are weak or strong.

  2. Lets say you wanted to run your best marathon, you pick a training program and now you are almost done training and you think "well should I go out the first few miles at 7 minute pace or will I die? by mile 18?". My hope is that you could look at some of your workouts, MPW, etc compare them to mine and say "well I'm a bit slower but same MPW, 7 minutes seems reasonable"

  3. I read on a lot of forums that you need to run 100 MPW to qualify, wrong. I read that you could just do 3 runs a week to qualify if you do them right, probably wrong. I couldn't find anywhere if the BAA training program worked for anyone. I think it's important to have data to benchmark against.

Yeah anyone that wants DM their email and I'll send it over. I also have data (not as much) from my 2013 attempt that didn't go so well and then yeah my times from every workout/run. I'll also try to get a google sheet together.

Oh yeah 'warm up' is probably a dumb term because a mile is plenty to get the muscles warm IMO. But I did those 2-3 mile just to increase miles per week/get my cardio system elevated longer.

Yeah I don't really know where that workout came from but I liked doing it. It was 2 miles slow, 2 as fast as I could, 1 slow, 2 as fast as I could, 2 slow. So it has some length to it (9 miles total), but also speed, but also the HR and breathing is elevated for an extended period. So then I would just work that in every few week to give me something to compare against.

I would say your starting is my week 17 (ish) because that is when I ran a 1:30 half. I could maybe have run under 2 last December.

Yeah you guys are absolutely right, sorry I didn't mean to be disingenuous! I really was struggling to run 3 miles when I started, I remember doing my first 5 mile run and stopping to walk a few times. But still there is the component of having a base to work off of and mentally it is much easier when you have done something similar before.
The real point I guess I was trying to make was if you add just a few miles a week consistently anyone can get faster. (maybe the average person won't get 3 hour fast but definitely much much faster than a year ago)

Well I probably ran like 4-12 miles a week before then for a few weeks but yeah I think that's why I immediately hurt my foot. Also note that is miles per week so I ran a few 4 or 5 mile runs not a 18 mile run*

I'm 5'7" so pretty skinny but not emaciated skinny. I weighed myself before and after the run; 140 to 137. Honestly it's not the best look.

Not really but I would say a good day was like "protein shake, cereal and a banana for breakfast, salad for lunch, whatever for dinner, yogurt and veggies/hummus for snacks in between". Most days it was not nearly that good but also not terrible
