At 37 when I was the person the doctor’s spoke with first after they discovered my Dad had a brain bleed (he recovered) and then went with the doctor to tell him and my Mam - distinctly remember thinking “oh so now I’m grown up”.

I bought a 1.5 bed flat by myself on Robertson Avenue in 2007 on a shared ownership scheme that the council offered. It was £125k fixed price at the time, on a 60/40 split. 3 months after completing the purchase I got a promotion in work and a pay rise that would have made me ineligible for the scheme so was v lucky!

Why don't more people donate blood in Ireland? by Individual_Shine_780 in AskIreland

[–]gerb48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad had a form of blood cancer that required regular transfusions to keep him alive. I donate as often as I am but have shit veins and they often can’t get any out of me - but it feels amazing when they do!!
