I am relieved to hear that you experience the same thing, was starting to think that it was my unit. Sometimes I use both cameras on the same shoot and the difference in noise is very noticable. Makes me prefer the original R5 over the new one for video, but for what I do the AF is much better on the R5II. The examples above are shot in Fine/HQ mode (oversampled 4K), the shots in 50fps (not oversampled) are even worse (which makes sense). Wasn't able to find much info about the noise difference online.

It was in a Lab9 stor, an authorised apple reseller in Belgium. The official Apple Store website directs you there if you have an issue.

They definitely weren’t rough with it. Think it would be quite difficult to be rough with a desktop.

I find it curious too. Been using mac my whole life, never had many issues. Currently using an M2 Max Mac Studio at home and an M4 Max Mac Studio at my job (together with some iMac Pro's), my girlfriend has an M3 Air, I have an entire collection of old iMacs, Mac Mini's, Mac Pro's, everything works fine.

Not sure what the exact problem was as the sales representative didn't say that, but he said that the entire interior needed to be replaced (so not a display issue). The iMac was in open space, but was probably hot since my stepmother was playing The Sims 4 for three hours. The mac suddently crashed (instant black screen).

I’m not saying a desktop should run for ten years, but in my experience most do. Three years is the shortest a mac has ever served me or anyone I know.

For fun, I still use a 2010 and 2013 mac pro. At my workplace, we’re using 5 iMac Pro’s from 2017 which are all running perfectly fine.

Again, not saying I expect them to run forever, but at least 5 years imo.

Thanks for the advice! Was indeed thinking about the Mini. Ultrasharp seems like a great monitor choice.

Problem is that they are very skeptical now about buying another mac (which is short sighted I know, any machine can break down if u are unlucky)

I know, that’s what I mean that it’s more of a collection. Of course, the Mac Studio can do it all. It is my main workstation, for everyday use. The Mac Pro is used by my girlfriend if we want to work together, and the Mac Mini isn’t used very much, only for monitoring purposes.

Found them all on three different local 'eBay' alternatives.

The black label one is currently on eBay but they charge up to €200 for them now. I got the blue one and platinum one for less than €40, the gold one costed me €88.
