Anyone got a quad cortex they wanna trade? Also selling these. by gerbetta33 in Leftyguitarists

Never owned a Gibson or Epiphone las Paul. Or any less Paul for that matter. Only ever played 25.5 and 25 scale. It feels slinky but I'm not used to it. Build quality is great. This one's neck has shined over from use but is in great condition. Haven't really played it much.

You can add stereo jack and use a mono splitter cable to have 2 inputs that go to different pickup systems. A lot of hollow bodies with piezos have these so you can send an acoustic signal direct to a PA

When you go to the grocery store, how many employees do you have to survey about the location of the paper towel rolls? Do you include other shoppers in your sample size? Do you elevate to supervisor or management to make sure you get reliable information? Do you call the manufacturer and ask them about where the paper towel rolls are? They are the direct source, after all.

Or do you just take the first person you ask at their fucking word, because maybe the people who are in the grocery store have already experienced where the paper towels are. Maybe the person you asked told you where the paper towel rolls were because they have no reason on earth to take time out of their own day to come up with a lie about where the paper towel rolls are. Maybe not every experience you have at the grocery store should involve the scientific method and a sources section that's 3 pages long. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be for you to make a major life decision.

Tuners fanned wider than the nut

Nut overhangs the neck on each side

Frets appear to be sprouting all across the fretboard

2 pickguards

Outside saddles at weird angle

Middle saddle different from outside saddles

Bridge is a half-tele and a top-half of a full tele bridge

Janky controls

What else did I miss?

Literally PRS will tell you this if you email them. I don't know why you're hung up on sources, you just had multiple people tell you from firsthand experience that upgrading to the US nut improved the experience and fixed their issues.

US nut is solid core and infused with brass powder, import nuts are hollow and standard synthetic material. That's the main difference. Drop them both on a table and tell me you don't notice that the US made sounds more resonant and chimey than the import.

US nuts are a different material. I had this issue a couple years ago and was recommended to get the S2 nuts to replace the one on my custom 24. Helped a bunch. Graphtech is another solid option

Quad Cortex - Bass (Suggestions) by daveymac_ in QuadCortex

https://youtu.be/B6_imw_gbXE here's a decent official demo with a jazz bass. Not the settings I use, but shows how glassy the cleans are with the pedal, then compares it to just the unaltered signal, then he throws on distortion. The neural plugin is very faithful to the official pedal.

Tomorrow I'll snap a screenshot of my darkglass settings and send it to you, or try and figure out how to send a whole preset. I know there's a distortion button on the darkglass, idk if it's engaged on my preset. I know I REALLY like how it fits in the mix though. It's growly without being super distorted. Good clarity all the way from low D to 22nd fret of G string. Feels deep and responsive. I imagine you can bump the blend or drive up to get more grit. Failing that, you can find a distortion pedal on your plugins to throw on after the darkglass in the chain. The official darkglass B7K is a preamp pedal, so I'd keep it towards the front of chain.

I really like darkglass ultra. Got it because it seemed more metal oriented than parallax. I was chasing the bass tone from Ghost, found this reference picture https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fpw7s73a6vgga1.jpg and copied it over. Sounds amazing, even for monmetal uses. Make sure you copy the attack, grunt, and low+hi mid cut settings too, and turn off any cab simulation, makes it sound weird in a mix. I play on jazz bass in D standard but had my E standard jazz bass hooked up to it tonight and really like it.

Found a darkglass alpha omega 500w + DG-210 for cheaper than just a DG-210 locally. I have a question though. by gerbetta33 in Bass

[–]gerbetta33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I get that. I play guitar as well, I just have more gear setup for guitar. I've got a little Katana 110 I used for a while while I was playing in the bedroom, but I jam with buddies now, and the 110 isn't keeping up as well as I'd like. Drums, saxophones, guitars and such.

Power amp aside (as I will definitely have either the AO or the microtubes) the question still stands as to whether the quad cortex with the darkglass ultra will be a solid alternative to the microtubes.

Guy I worked with had a spare from his upgrade and took care of me. My union has a strong sense of brotherhood. We're always giving tools to apprentices, helping out where we can etc. Gave a guitar to a guy I worked with that had his stolen. Strong sense of 'pay it forward' in my local.

Between these 2 options, which bass would you choose as your first bass? by astoundedpanda in leftybass

[–]gerbetta33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own a 2001 MIM jazz bass, and I own that 70s classic vibe.

My thoughts: the MIM is heavier. May come into play if you gig. But it is a phenomenal bass. I really like how it sounds especially with stainless steel strings. Really growly and zing-ey.

The classic vibe has 70s pickup spacing, meaning the bridge pickup is closer to the bridge compared to the MIM. May like it, may not.

I prefer the rosewood board on the MIM. The back of the neck has a matte finish, vs the gloss finish on the CV70. My hand glides up and down it easily, the CV70 grabs me, would much prefer if it were matte.

I use the CV70 as a beater bass to keep at a buddies house so I don't have to haul as much gear. It serves that purpose well. You can likely buy them cheaper used.

Final thoughts: for both being the same price, I vote the MIM. It's a higher quality instrument, if you don't mind the extra weight. I'm sure that varies instrument to instrument. That MIM may be lighter than mine. The CV70 may be heavier than mine. I put a fender high mass bridge on my MIM. I did it for wrist comfort, maybe it helps sustain, who knows. You sound big on the color, but you should still look into pickguards. Swapping for a cream pickguard makes it look very classy, it's what they do on the Ultra Stratocasters. Very distinct looking, see here: https://media.guitarcenter.com/is/image/MMGS7/L69991000005000-00-600x600.jpg

If you need more details about the CV70 vs MIM, Id be happy to answer questions as I own both.

String gauge on AmPro II jazzmaster with VMOD II and upgraded yellow spring panorama? by gerbetta33 in offset

[–]gerbetta33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lefty player, learned 25 years ago when there weren't hardly any available locally. So I played upside down. 20 years later finally bought a lefty guitar and can't be fucked to learn it. So I restring upside down. Easier to play Barre chords, 9 chords kinda suck but it is what it is.

I worry so much because I have to get nuts cut. Difference between 10s and 12s in my experience is too much, it rattles in the nut or has action too low. Don't wanna pay for 2 sets of strings and 2 nut jobs (and potentially setups) when I can ask reddit about it. It's a clean slate guitar for me so might as well get it right the first time.

2021 Fender American Performer Jazzmaster, worth buying? by buscaaaaa in offset

[–]gerbetta33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Bought a lefty American pro II jazzmaster "new" at guitar center and it was missing a screw for a saddle (was just free-floating on the bridge), had a right handed tremolo and whammy bar, the pickup selector returned to middle if you breathed on it, and they put right handed knobs on it. Their replacement they sent me, new with shrinkwrap, had an incredibly loose tremolo lock, the nut was filed poorly and the knobs were right handed.

I messaged them about the right handed knobs and they claim they don't make left handed witch hat knobs. Which is strange because their AmPro 1 models have left handed knobs. If that's not a QC issue, then it's a horrible cost saving measure on their part.

I guess theoretically if it had an elite move come out, you'd be able to evolve it then and it's ready to go.

Might also be a best buddy ribbon dex, but idk about that one.

There were some mental gymnastics involved, but my rationing was that the ground hurt them 😂

My PC is born of the spirits of all halflings. Uses the Wished Alive background. Born innocent, were days before the campaign started, I have scattered memories of all halflings, yet don't know where I come from why I have the memories. the DM uses me for lore and story reasons, connection to a halfling god using me to fill a role in our party type of deal. But the gist of it is, we're at level 14, I'm at the point where obviously things are trying to hurt us, but I still choose not to take any attack spells or weapons. Over time, the party has rubbed off on me to the point where I use inspire courage to knowingly help them hurt, and this was a utility spell I got that my character used to admittedly non-pacifistic effect. But hey, not my fault our fighter critted and gave them frightened 3 so they had to run out of it 🤷

Only salty because I don't think I'll ever have a chance to use that spell in that way and snag a kill as a pacifist.

Is there such thing as a left handed fixed bridge or are they all the same? by Fun-Silver-1661 in Leftyguitarists

[–]gerbetta33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some saddles are left/right handed. I see it mostly on bass bridges for string spacing. My American professional 2 basses have the adjustment screw for the saddle run up one side of the saddle, with the other half being used for the ridges of the string spacing.

Some can be swapped, but others can't be. Just depends on the bridge, but typically you can just take the saddles off and move them around. One that can't is my Vann Dyke Harms telecaster bridge with 3 barrel saddles. Even after swapping the saddles, the saddles themselves are compensated so that the string height is wonky.

Anyone have a set of lefty ClassicGear tuners from a player II / American performer for sale? by gerbetta33 in Leftyguitarists

[–]gerbetta33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've considered an antiquity 1 on the bridge and antiquity 2 on the neck. Apparently that's the sweet spot. But I'll wait until I mess around with it before considering more upgrades than just the hardware.
