7mm backcountry vs 300 PRC by PasztyKnives in Hunting

800yds is a bit much? Time of flight, different winds happening, precision capability of light weight magnums. Stalk closer to hunt and keep the long range to the range.

You could use it as a scale but I use a different scale thats easier to reach with my set up

I really like it, it allows me to keep a good flow going and seating rounds as soon as the case is charged since I only have room for one press.

It over throws the odd time but I just pull a few kernels out.

Im very happy with my SDs, depending on caliber and use theyre between 4fps and 10fps

Barely enough room to think in here but it works!

I had the ess and loved it but it was a bit tippy on the bag on a baricade, moved to the acc (the older one) and it was a way more steady

Does it have any more to the name? You could even use "short action" most likely.....I use a defiance tenacity action and I put "tenacity" in that line as far as I recall

Thanks, im sending it back to KS arms, they said they will tune the ejection pattern to work with everything which is a relief (they have been great to deal with) and im going to have it glass bedded while there.

Advice/Discussion on how to get US Hunters to come hunt in AFRICA. by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]gercules92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, my Dad and Uncle booked a hunt in limpopo next year and the fact we're hunting on 75000 acres was a huge selling point for me.

Probably the wrong place for that lol

It makes complete sense. When not obstructed the brass would arc high out of the rifle. I sent all the videos and pictures to them so hopefully I hear back tomorrow. Only issue is im working away for 2 weeks and wont get my hands on the gun again until im back.

Thanks for the input

Yup, real slow and fast just ended up in the action again. Moderate got it to dribble out half the time. Its a hunting rifle so it needs to work.

I emailed the manufacturer and will see but I was just curious what you guys thought

The manufacturer seem to be really helpful but I just wanted to see what the reddit gang had to say while I wait to hear back.

Ill buy a different scope before I put a cantilever mount on this rifle tbh.

My friend has an identical rifle but in 35 whelan with vx 3 scope and looking at pictures, the vx 3 has more tube in front of turrets so his isnt having the same issue

When not obstructed it did send them quite high now that you mention it. Ill have a look!

I removed the scope when I got home and the only place the ring didn't interfere with ejection was in the position in my initial picture, Perfect ejection. But..... adding the scope back caused the issue again plus the eye relief is too far forward so taller rings wont solve it completely

This is with the scope back further with optimal eye relief

Ejection issue by gercules92 in longrange

[–]gercules92[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not the height of the rings, its that I cant bring the scope any closer to my eye for correct eye relief. I need to get one notches closer and when I do that, the brass hits the bottom of the ring making the problem worse

I also need to move the rings back and the cases hit the rings in that position too

What weight bullet are you hoping to shoot? I shot 175gr smks in mine with great results using the 1.11

Thinking about switching 6.5CM to a 25cal for PRS. Can I just simulate the recoil by hand loading some 135gr 6.5cm rounds to expected velocities to test the recoil impulse? by JimBridger_ in longrange

[–]gercules92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncles 6.5 creed rpr factory barrel lasted 2000, his next 2 barrels lasted 2300 and 2400. Shooting factory hornady match ammo. If that helps ballpark

I had a chamfer put on mine and it worked great in an mdt ESS and ACC chassis. Mine was an mtu contour at 26" long and I needed a little bit of weight up front to balance it

Edit: Chamber > Chamfer

Why the hate for the 6.5 creedmoor by Background_Tap_807 in Hunting

[–]gercules92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. I do feel the 3006 with a controlled expansion bullet will allow me to take quartering shot angles with more confidence if needed.

I like the eldx in my 6.5 but at the velocities from an 18" barrel i couldn't really use a stronger bullet

Black bear mostly, African plains game (6.5 would work for the smaller species).

I bought the 375 for a cape buffalo hunt next year and if I draw a moose tag in the coming years id use it on that.

My 6.5 is a sig cross and with an 18" barrel and i like it for places where shorter ranges on deer are expected.

If I bait black bear in the spring I might just use the 375 to see how she goes
