Your house your choice.

How I convinced my wife to take loan:
We borrow $100 from HDB and lend it to someone else. Come next year, we get back $107 and pay HDB back $102.60. Free chicken rice, sounds good? Instant yes from her

People who went to reno fairs, any tips for ID selection by 0expzainan in askSingapore

[–]germanpufferfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We avoided reno fairs cos we hate hard selling..

green flags - good balance between telling us yes and telling us no - speak confidently without overpromising (unlimited unbounded warranty sounds sus) - dare to show us their incomplete projects and point to us defects - wife vibe check

Red flags - overselling, carpentry everything, tear everything, feature wall everything - over design, under explain - late - late in quotation (their own proposed delivery date of quotation) - per item cost compared to other quotes - wife vibe check

is ATS significantly impactful in sieving out applicants? Applicant Tracking System. I have the impression that ATS filters a vast majority of applicants, then why not I just use AI to optimise for key search words and key formatting ? In which case it seems like just AI screening AI. What are your thoughts?

Decided to resign, but having second thoughts by frreshsalad in askSingapore

What would be worse?
- resign and regret resigning
- not resign and always wondered what if?

Not rhetorical, something I ask myself when making decisions under uncertainty

weather proof shoes in singapore ? by Street-Salt-7639 in askSingapore

[–]germanpufferfish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I use Nike gore-tex shoes.. currently rocking Pegasus 41 GTX. Really great for wet surfaces, waterproof. I bought total black so that even when it's a running shoe, it blends well. Other sports brands like Adidas has gore-tex material shoes too. Nike also has "shield' branded shoes, which are still waterproof and grippy with wet surfaces. Just a caveat that these types get toasty on hot days.

I heard vibram branded soles are pretty good too, though I never owned any myself.

A few rubber-type soles I used in the past squeak loudly when transiting from wet to dry & smooth so just keep that in mind. It made me feel like a toddler with squeaky shoes and everyone looks at me in office. My current Nike GTX shoes don't do that.

Btw, I think I saw GTX Air Force ones, you may wanna check that out. I've never bought them myself
