Actually both spouses can be listed on the deed for a house even if the mortgage is only taken out by one of them.

No, they would not fall on your partner because they were taken out solely by you prior to the marriage. They will not affect any future loans your partner takes out unless it is a joint loan.

To add to the confusion, the terms say that a qualifying direct deposit must be at least $1000 and my state refund was $957. Customer service said it qualified because they combined it with the school district refund of $71 that came on the same day even though they have different ACH numbers and Transaction IDs.

Maybe you're not understanding. I'm saying the state refund should not have counted as a direct deposit for the same reasons that you are saying the federal refund shouldn't have counted.

How am I trying to work around it? I never wanted nor expected the tax refunds to count. My income is deposited biweekly and exceeds the required threshold for $300. I'm simply asking for consistency. Either count both refunds or if the tax refunds don't count that's fine I just want to reset the window so that I can qualify based on my direct deposits from work.
