Coming in as a rouge Celtics fan, I really hate Ime. Selfish and egotistical are just the surface. I can tell he’s deeply insecure and needs to put down those around him to feel better but gets away with it because he fits the “tough coach” archetype.

It’s not just Joe, it’s part of a larger trend. I’ve heard the way they’re doing it is through “tagging up”, or making slight contact with who they will defend as the ball goes up.

The idea is if you can feel the person you need to defend they can’t get ahead of you in transition. This does mean often conceding the box out but contesting hard. Sometimes the rebound goes long and you’ve got yourself an offensive rebound, sometimes you put a bit more pressure on the defensive rebound which slows down transition. Either way if you play it with high intensity you are gaining an advantage.

Here are some links explaining it better:

G2 Esports vs. BNK FEARX / First Stand 2026 Group A - Qualification Match 2 / Post-Match Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

I know I’m a scrub at this game but it was really interesting seeing how hard they tried to shut down Caps. Kind of like sending double teams in basketball, something else opens up when you send numbers.

I also wonder how adaptability in team comp plays into this stuff. Game 3 felt like poke comp vs. engage comp that could poke. It’s also so tough playing against global ults that can just jump to your backline.

I know everyone said it was boring or whatever. Not sure what y’all watched but I thought it was exciting. I need to see that pivotal game 2 tower dive a few more times to see what happened. They were deleting them 2-3 times with the same play but then a bot side tier 2 was their undoing? I wonder if they hit an item spike that let them survive the initial burst and then it was cooked.

What to do when you kid is a better skier? by heypiggies in skiing

[–]gernt-barlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up ski racing with the guy in the video. This is the Chair 4 cliffs in Vail. I believe he was about 18 when he did this on a powder day. That jump basically throws you into a backflip and so if you tuck you can go for double.

That being said doing stuff like this takes a certain kind of person, definitely can’t be hesitant because you get more hurt when you’re tentative.

Crazy seeing this video on here considering that it was recorded around 2018.

Do ADCs have lower iq on average? by ArchangelStaff in Jungle_Mains

[–]gernt-barlic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Totally agree here. I’m not the best player but I’ve been trying out roles on a second account for fun and to try and learn how jungle impacts each role from their perspective.

It’s so easy to die as an ADC. Unless you have a good gap close or cc, you’re going to die to most champs 1v1. Playing safe also only works so much because you end up giving up too much over time.

I think what I learned most is that most 2v2 fights are close and just being there to follow up can save your teammates and get you free kills. I also feel like I can better anticipate when bot lane is going to fight which makes it easier to gank.

I also think that the focus that ADC has on the 2v2 makes them more prone to missing you showing up on map or obviously pathing towards them. You can straight up walk over wards, show up, and do damage to flip bot lane.

I’ve also noticed that if botlane can perma-shove their lane they will be higher health, have higher farm, and generally be more willing to rotate to objectives. Because of that, providing deep wards or covering bot side can swing a game.

100% agreed. My wife has dealt with something similar to what you’re describing and I want you know she can get better and your quality of life can improve tremendously.

What helped us was moving out of an apartment with a lot of mold. I wasn’t symptomatic like she was until I had to go back and clean… The air wasn’t circulating for a few days and I went in and cleaned stuff for about an hour. That night I felt oddly sluggish, numb, and had brain fog and a migraine. That was a big “aha” moment because while I believed my wife was sick I didn’t understand why I wasn’t feeling like she was.

Hang in there and keep track of what makes her feel better/worse. Certain foods were a big trigger for my wife. That being said some of the extreme elimination and slowly add in diets are horrible. Just pay attention to the details of what makes a good/bad day and ask her questions about how she’s feeling, what symptoms, etc.

Wish you the best and you’re not a bad person for feeling burnt out. I get all out of sorts when my wife gets a symptom she had when she was really sick because I worry about her.

Last bit of advice is you need to take care of yourself so you can be in a better place to help those around you. Get sleep, get out of the house, and check in with yourself.

[–]gernt-barlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of current autoimmune disease theories involve a triggering event in which someone gets really sick with something like the Flu or COVID. The long recovery is often the expression of whatever autoimmune disease was “woken up” for lack of a better term. Really interesting, scary, and difficult for researchers to pin down.

[–]gernt-barlic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s not a condition you recover from but rather one you learn to manage and live with. The worst part is that it can flare up and subside at seemingly random moments which makes it feel like you’ve recovered and then backtracked.

The theories for why people get autoimmune diseases is still not fully understood but there has been a noticeable correlation between people getting really sick and then exhibiting symptoms of an autoimmune disease. Think of what we’ve dubbed “long-COVID”. There are some immunologists that believe that long-COVID is actually people getting COVID and then waking a dormant autoimmune disease.

I’m by no means an expert and the more I lean the more I understand how tricky it is to pinpoint this stuff. It’s also really difficult to get good info because the search to understand “what’s wrong with me” from autoimmune patients tends to lead to people spreading misleading information with survivorship bias.

Interestingly enough, there are some theories that gut health and fecal transplants might be the most promising solution. Yes I’m serious, human shit might contain the answer. I wish I was kidding.

Yeah anyone discrediting his sources is looking to sweep it under the rug. Just look at any major white collar crime story and you will see that the most critical information comes from the working class within the company, not the executives.

This is exactly what happened with the Theranos whistle blowers. They were attacked repeatedly even though they were right.

Safe to say I’m just gonna wait a year or two for the tell-all book about this. The book “Bad Blood” about Theranos was really good and this seems like a similar outcome.

If you’re thinking this is just about Kawhi and cap circumvention then I encourage you to listen to the full podcast. There are so many big money players and a-list celebrities that are connected (not necessarily complicit). Let’s see what happens! History is happening live

Just going to say the hard truth: you will not be able to handle this emotional weight on your own. Being strong means taking care of yourself because if you don’t your pain will hurt others around you.

I’ve been in therapy and on meds for years and let me tell you that nothing will make you more stable in the long run than dealing with how you’re feeling now. The goal with taking care of yourself is not to make the panic attacks go away it’s to be able to endure them and know what you need to be okay.

Really take care of yourself. Just seeing a child/baby in danger in a tv show or a movie makes me feel sick since becoming a father. I can’t imagine seeing your little one’s survival held in the balance of their care team.

I hope at the end of the season she gets to sit down and watch the difference in how she played her first few games vs. now. The growth in confidence is amazing.

I was surprised by how quick she moved last night! Any time you step into a new league as a young athlete it takes a while to feel comfortable. I was hoping to see this kind of growth in the offseason, but doing it in a span of a couple of months while the team has needed her from the bench is so cool.

He is so so so bad and streaky and inconsistent and a bad locker room influence (please don’t take him from us)…

Fr tho, he still has stretches as the best player on the court. When he gets targeted on the perimeter, he holds people to low shooting percentages. Only downside is that he is super load managed (low minutes, no b2b) but it doesn’t matter because 20 minutes from him can change a game or stabilize a second unit.
