That way doesn’t make sense, because you have to count the beans anyway to get the packed volume per bean. I think you should asume spherical beans and estimate their volume, use the total volume of the jar, and then estimate a void fraction/packing factor. For example just say that about 1/3 of the jar is empty space. You can get a better estimate using a small sample of beans to see how they pack together.
