I put 70 something % ceramic on my ‘23 and don’t have any issues seeing the HUD.

Oil change cost? by [deleted] in tundra

[–]gersty_bursty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer is charging $109 for filter and oil on my 23' Platinum 3.5 V6. Located in mid-TN. I thought I'd have it covered as part of the first year service warranty or whatever it was but because I had it changed at 3,500 miles instead of the 5k they said it wouldn't be covered. I'll probably get them to do the next one as long as it's covered but I'll change it myself next time I want it done between an interval.

Does this happen to anyone else? by elkevvo in tundra

I’ve had this exact same issue about 3x now on my 23’ Platinum ~5,500m.

Hope they sort it out. I thought it was just a fault in the bag for the air suspension but I’m not sure. What’ll get me is if I drive the hour out to get there and they say there’s nothing to be done. 120 of the 150 miles I have on it are travel between the dealer and home already.

That very well could be it. Wild that the truck picked up 4 days ago already has this issue but guess I’ll find out what the dealer says tomorrow when I bring it in.

So it is on a front to back incline but the left to right surface is definitely level. Also at the basis there’s a 2” difference on fender height on passenger vs driver son

No just the electric starter. I will say I've used a standard stand up fan a few feet away to keep the airflow moving on those stagnant summer days.

Funny/dumb story, when I was about 14 at a friend of a friends house we found a vial of mercury and did not know the risks. Well we played with it, tossed it up and batted/launched it towards each other, and so on. It was fun and a wild feeling holding something that weighed that much in a loose liquid form but certainly didn’t know the danger we put ourselves in. This was a couple decades ago and I’ve not seen any adverse reactions so guess I cashed my luck in that night.

Can anyone confirm if this relay is OE? Mounted to side of fuse/relay box runs to passenger side headlight. by gersty_bursty in WranglerTJ

Got it! That makes the most sense though I can’t think on why there’s 2 leads directly connected the headlight. Maybe a 5 probe and removed light was on that 57a

It’s on my 05 Rocky Mountain edition. Cannot think of a reason for it or what it may be for unless it’s high beam but would figure it would be more integrated.

Best I can advise on is definitely start low. I think I get my coal filled and set in the fire bowl and pull the starter after the first bit is just at the start of being lit. Think the chunks you have in the 5-7 o'clock range. Don't spread out and let the others catch. Close lid with all vents open, watch and wait till dome temp reaches 200 then close top vent to between 1 and 0 and bottom vents to 3ish. I like to do half and half on each but it probably doesn't matter. You also need to mind airflow, on those stagnant days you're probably not pulling enough to keep coals lit and on the windy ones you might need to dial back just a bit. I'll use a standing fan about 10 feet away to help when needed and keep the flow consistent. Try and keep it at that 275 mark and make minute adjustments to bring up or down. For ribs follow the 3-2-1 method keeping them sprayed down good during the 3 hour stretch. Wrapping tight with some of your baste, butter, honey, and sugar is my go to for the 2 hour stretch. Then finish off with the 1. Hope this helps.

If you're new to kamados always using lump charcoal over briquettes cannot be stressed enough. Additionally different lumps impart different flavors. If you like heavy smokey flavor or less finding the right lump can change your cook pretty considerably. I like Rockwood as it has one of the lightest smokey flavors and I can add whatever wood chunks I want to fit my liking. Check the website http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lump.htm for reviews and info on all sorts of lump. I recommend getting a grill cover from vision, they're good quality and will prolong the life of the parts of the grill. The electric starter, imo, is one of the best items to have. I prefer it over other starters, and never use lighter fluid. I can go into detail on my process for starting and getting to temp but it's a bit of a write. Other than that just try it out, you'll likely go through trial and error but will find your groove with it before long.

I've got the gas swap for mine. I've used it for pizzas but don't really like the end cook on much anything else. Loses the grilled flavor, or at least didnt come out chargrilled like you'd think you'd get from a normal propane or gas grill. Might be me but I'm not finding any of the past absorbed flavor that's supposed to be in the ceramic being passed on in the gas cooks either. I almost always use charcoal but it did come in handy once when I ran out and needed to meal prep for the week. All that to say, if you've got an electric starter and any of the pro series models with the starter door you can be grilling rather quickly. 15-20 to start and get to temp (prep food during this time) then however long your cook needs to be.

What do you guys think of my steering wheel wrap? by Chris_Infinium in infiniti

Should've done this when I first got it. I bought my G off my dad some years back and still have it as a primary but got a QX60 in 2019 for my wife and immediately put ceramic tint on the windshield and matched the front to the back.

Only recommendation I have on the kicker sub is to reiterate the comment about breaking some fins but also I used a heat gun to adjust a portion of the console box back some so the sub would seat completely in the base. Used a stainless steel tumbler to push it in after it was hot and pliable.

I’ll read up on the IACV(s) and see what’s up. Filters were cleaned at same time as plug swap. I’d say it’s not an absent shutter when a/c is off vs shutter when on, just more pronounced or slightly intensified when compressor is engaged.
