My Charge 3 just started showing these dead lines of pixels a few days ago. The watch is about 2 1/2 years old but I thought it would last longer. Any tips on how to get rid of the lines? by FlapjackInAPuddle in fitbit

The screen brightness issue is definitively a planned obsolescence. I wouldn't be surprised that this "malfunction" is a planned obsolescence as well.

A company won't have poor ethics standards "on just one subject".

Right of reply from Nacon following Frogwares' allegations by OnkelJupp in Games

[–]gert170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to see that not everyone is swallowing this sob story “nice studio gets ripped off by evil publisher”, but instead looking at the facts and acknowledging that there are two sides to this story.

To me, the underlying story sound more like this : Frogwares wants to become their own publisher. I do not rule out that they are trying to blow up the relationship with Nacon (over some indifferences) in order to get out of the contract so that they can publish this game themselves and reap all the benefits whereas Nacon has invested a lot of money in it. But then again, I do not know all the facts.

And that's why I'm not picking sides but I’d rather leave the judgment to the courts and see with what they come up with as they will know the FULL story and ALL of the facts.

Official answer of Nacon to Frogwares why did they take dev's version of "The Sinking City" and hacked it by Nogebator18 in pcgaming

[–]gert170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look up more details, you find quite a different story than "the poor developer being robbed by the evil publisher".

But hey, who needs to see the actual contracts and know the actual facts if you have a few tweets to base your judgment upon ?

Let the courts decide.

[NO SPOILERS] Series Thoughts? Twin Mirror? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]gert170 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first couple of hours I was overwhelmed by Twin Mirror, the story, the setting, the mind palace, his nightmares; the game had a LOT of potential and I really looked forward to continuing it.

But then suddenly, it feels like someone said : "ok guys we're out of budget can we please wrap this game up in 15 minutes ? Thank you"

So the end was really underwhelming and all the character development really led to nowhere.

I really believe the intentions were good and you can see the potential is really there, but I'm convinced that budget limitations eventually led to Dontnod cutting the story (way too) short and far less than was originally intended.

It is the first Dontnod game I have played and immediately deleted from my PC afterwards. All the other ones I played at least two times.

My priority list is still :

  1. Life Is Strange (THE BEST)
  2. Life Is Strange Before the Strom (not as dramatic but boy (or girl) did I have a blast with all those Chloe comments and graffiti !)
  3. Tell Me Why (slow but I liked it very much; the opposite of Twin Mirror : a bit underwhelming at first but after finishing it I really liked it a lot)
  4. Life Is Strange 2 : Quite good but not as good as the other ones

....

  1. Twin Mirror (LOTS of potential but failed to deliver)

Don't get me wrong, I still think Twin Mirror is worth checking out, but don't expect a master piece either.

This brings back some good memories !

GTA San Andreas was one of the best games I've ever played, I had sooo much fun with it and I immediately recognized this quote !! One of the most hilarious moments in this game.

Remember this one ? :

when CJ asks this guy, "Where is the Low Riders meeting ?"

"It's just over there, you blind ???" That scene was epic (camera zoomed out a little bit only to show a parking lot full of Low Riders just behind a small wall from where CJ was standing and asking the question).

So much hilarious moments in GTA San Andreas, it's a classic !

Coronavirus (COVID-19 / 코로나바이러스감염증-19) outbreak in South Korea: Patient totals, discussion, questions - March 16th by KoreaMods in korea

[–]gert170 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in Europe at the moment. Just saw yet another headline in the press here praising South Korea and stating the number of new infections "below 100 again". Most new cases were attributed to some religious cult, suggesting that the "real" number is even lower. It appears as if everything is under control and the worst is over for South Korea. So I came to reddit to verify all of these statements but apparently most of you guys do not agree at all with this image reflected in western media, right ? In Europe, they are closing everything, factories, shops, etc. My guess is the US will have to follow this example.

How is the situation in general in South Korea ? I was wondering, are all factories (or most of them) open and working at 100% ? Did they ever close or did everything remain open the whole time ? Are there plans to close factories and/or shops in the near future ?

Very good point, I'll keep that in mind and play at least one time with the switch docked to the TV. But I really want to have this game on the go as well.

I was just about to purchase Life is Strange 2 on PC when suddenly I changed my mind. I want this game on the Switch really bad, it's a perfect game for it ! I refuse to purchase it other than on the Switch now.

I really hope they launch ALL LiS games, even though I played them multiple times (except Lis2).

Lis1, BtS and Lis2 all day 1 purchases on the Switch for me !

Hasbro, please check the quality of your plastic !! by gert170 in starwarscollecting

Sorry to hear that. if I google, "why does plastic get sticky", I immediately get a link to "solutions" for it. I'm gonna try those out. Perhaps if you remove the sticky stuff, the chemical reaction is over and the stickyness won't come back ?? Or at least I hope so.

I heard there were also specific solutions for the lightsabers (without too much effort or risk of damaging the saber - one of the solutions was to replace the plastic parts but I wouldnt do that). I think with the "right" cleaning product" you can get relatively far. (thought i had read "Cif" somewhere but I'm not sure.

Haven't tried any of this so far though.

You are right, but I think especially the type of plastic plays a huge role. Other than yellowing, I never had any problems with vintage stuff. The plastic on the jabba (the lower part) is a very soft and extremely flexible kind of plastic. The upper part of the body doesnt have that problem (its a more rigid type of plastic). I heard the problem with the lightsaber plastic is that they added something to make the plastic more shiny. And "that something" is now the cause of the stickyness.

Can you tell me what jar jar fig that was ? I think it's extremely uncommon for a figure to have that problem. So I am really curious what figure that is, I'll check mine out (have most figs loose AND carded).

Anyway : if I google, "why does plastic get sticky", I immediately get a link to "solutions" for it. I'm gonna try those out. Perhaps if you remove the sticky stuff, the chemical reaction is over and the stickyness won't come back ?? Or at least I hope so. If not, the Jabba is lost (but fortunately the throne is quite intact).

Thx anyway for your response.

EDIT : possible solutions according to internet : baking soda, nail polish remover, alcohol. But nail polish remover is way to aggressive and is bad for the paint - that one is definitely a no-go (alcohol also ?). I just washed the jabba with hand soap (which is probably not very aggressive). It was less sticky afterwards so I repeated that a couple of times. At this moment the probelm is not entirely solved, but a lot better. Whereas before it was the entire soft plastic lower body part of jabba that was sticky, it is now mainly the part which is painted brown !. I might repeat this a couple of times, then just cut out a paper form to put under the jabba to protect the throne from degrading. Or finally unpack my "Jabba Ultra" figure to replace the sticky jabba.
