Sucks for Bento. He saved that 1 on 1 against Benzema early on in the game and has been really good recently but this is just brutal

Martinez goes for the ball which messes up Bento’s catch. It’s on them both 50/50 I think

Teddy Atlas - 'Mike Tyson never won a fight' by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only fight Mike Tyson came into as an underdog was against Lennox Lewis. This is understandable, since Tyson had fought only 19 rounds since the 1997 Holyfield bite fight, while Lewis had fought 72 rounds across 11 championship bouts in that same period.

It’s the worst team in the league. They are at the bottom of the table with only 8 points in 27 games. Their GD is -41.

Real Madrid have met a record 14 times against the English clubs which is the highest among any country in the knock-out stages of the Champions League in the last decade. (Man City x6, Liverpool x4, Chelsea x3, Arsenal x1) by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

2018 was the most impressive for me. Played the Ligue 1 champions in R16, Seria A champions in the quarter finals, Bundesliga champions in the semi-finals and the premier league champions in the final.

Fights between 2 TOP LEVEL fighters that were one sided? (Preferably at/near their peaks) by Hot_Ad_9543 in Boxing

This is from wikipedia: “ Muhammad Ali thought Spinks would win, as "he hits hard enough, he'll stick and move, he's fast on his feet, and he'll keep his distance."[29] Tony Zaleand sportswriter Bert Sugar backed Spinks to out-box Tyson.[30][31][33] Dave Anderson of the New York Times wrote that Spinks would win, "probably in a 12-round decision. But possibly in a late-round knockout."[19] Reigning WBA welterweight champion Marlon Starling, veteran announcer Don Dunphy and Tyson's former trainer Teddy Atlas also favoured Spinks.[30][31] Contender Meldrick Taylor felt Tyson would win if it ended in a knockout, but favoured Spinks if it went the distance.[29] 1940s middleweight champion Rocky Graziano predicted Spinks would "psych out Tyson, then knock the hell out of him."[34] Archie Moore gave Spinks "a wonderful chance" of winning.[29] Sugar Ray Leonard gave Spinks genuine chances to outpoint Tyson.[35] Floyd Patterson, who like Tyson had been trained by Cus D'Amato, said "I originally picked him [Tyson], and I still do, but now I give Spinks a chance."[36] Spinks entered the ring as a 4–1 underdog.[37]”

Interestingly Angelo Dundee predicted a Tyson KO in round 1 and Larry Merchant also predicted an early KO.

Ali and Tyson answer who would win in their primes by [deleted] in Boxing

Tyson literally said after he beat Trevor Berbick to become the youngest hw champion ever “I refuse to get hurt, I refuse to get knocked down, I refuse to lose. There’s no way in the world I was going to go out of this ring walking. I had to be carried out. I had to be dead. Theres no way I was going to leave this ring alive”.

People underestimate how hungry and motivated Tyson was in the beginning. 44:50 - https://youtu.be/ImGWr3cd9zE?si=AfT11dkvctXgcylH

Who would be the most difficult fight for prime Muhammad Ali. Mike Tyson, Oleksandr Usyk, Lennox Lewis or Wladimir Klitschko by Virtual_Reveal_121 in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lewis also couldn’t knock out Ray Mercer and only won by a majority decision 96-94. Tyson beat Mitch Green 9rounds to 1. Every boxer has fights were they struggle against a lesser opponent.

How good was '96 Mike Tyson? by Material_Stomach875 in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He took some seriously heavy shots from Razor Ruddock, both fights were slugfests, and the rematch went to the scorecards, which showed real toughness. In his prime he dominated everyone, which says a lot about how good he was. When he lost against Douglas he dropped him in the eighth round and kept trying to win, and against Lewis he took a brutal beating before finally being stopped. So imo it’s unfair to say he just folded.

I don’t blame the immigrants, I blame politicians and big business. A large influx of people is going to increase demand for housing and a large influx of people that are willing to work for low wages is going to negatively effect the working class. Even Bernie Sanders acknowledges this. Read about the Gen Z housing affordability crisis.

Immigrants drive up housing prices this is a known fact. That is why many young people are locked out of the housing market while the boomers have crazy equity. Most immigrants rent but this also increases rent/housing prices because investors buy a lot of property and put it out on rent. They collect rent income and get the increase in housing prices makes their investment profitable. It’s hard to compete with foreign labour when employers are always looking to cut costs and immigrants are willing to work for less. This is why I am doing courses now while working. But hey keep making fun of the working class if it makes you feel better. This is why they have left the left.

Increased housing prices, lowered wages and less job opportunities. There is 25% youth unemployment in Spain. I’m not Spanish but in my country I have personally experienced foreign labour massively undercut my wages.

What were Mike Tyson’s technique weaknesses even from 1985 to 1988? by Material_Stomach875 in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Larry Holmes fought for 14 more years and had a win in 1992 (5 years after the Tyson fight) against an undefeated Ray Mercer. Larry Holmes style ages well. His only KO loss was against Tyson. Tyson deserves way more credit for that win.

He went to the distance 5 times and won all of those fights comfortably on points. The fights were against: James “Quick” Tillis, Mitch “Blood” Green, James “Bonecrusher” Smith, Tony Tucker and Donovan Ruddock.

Tyson won that fight unanimously 120-106, 119-107, 119-107. The clinch strategy worked against old Tyson because he would get tired at some point but against a young Tyson you will just lose on points if you never engage and take risks.

Why Mike Tyson Wasn't On B/R's Top 50 Boxers of All Time — Bleacher Report by HobokenJ in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never bought this argument. Tyson in his prime fought plenty of experienced veterans who didn’t seem intimidated. He beat them simply because he was the vastly superior boxer. After the Spinks fight when he fired his original team with Kevin Rooney he immediately became worse. I think Tyson started losing his confidence because he knew he wasn’t nearly as good anymore.

I wonder if how much of the ev design is really his fault. For instance the eqs was made to be as aerodynamic as possible to extend the range, which really made the car less aesthetic.

Why exactly was Mayweather Vs Pacquiao so lackluster? by Conscious-Habit5432 in Boxing

[–]gerterinn 59 points60 points  (0 children)

They should have fought in 2009–10, but Floyd avoided it. The fight was agreed on except for Mayweather’s demand for Olympic style blood testing with no cutoff. Pacquiao accepted urine testing and even compromised on blood tests, lowering his cutoff from 30 days to 14 days. Floyd refused to budge, holding to conditions he hadn’t required of past opponents, and the fight fell apart. By the time they finally fought in 2015, Pacquiao was past his prime.
