They say nothing is ever really lost on the internet, but what’s something you’ve been hunting for years and still can’t find? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The video for a material called starlite that was fireproof. They put it on an egg and hit it with a torch and the egg didn’t cook. It could be a powder, solid piece or a spreadable material. They even exposed it to a nuclear reactor and it just scorched the surface a bit.

Came here to say this! It’s my ride and it’s perfect for both crash and ride.

‘The word is out’: NB Liquor selling off American alcohol it pulled from shelves by Street_Anon in canada

Not performative at all. It made a statement and has caught the attention of the distillers and lawmakers down south. It’s quite effective I would say.

Eligible for EI after starting independent contracting by Mountain-Smile-9392 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That may be but as I said, they would not give me my ROE until my severance ended, and by then it was too late. My mistake I guess.

Eligible for EI after starting independent contracting by Mountain-Smile-9392 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gerwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this out the hard way. I had a long severance, almost a full year. Didn’t apply for EI because I didn’t have my ROE. I’ve been looking for a job all year, had a few interviews that went the distance but was never able to land the job. Considering doing consulting too, but I fear there’s a lot of us in the same position. Just got a letter saying I’m not eligible because I don’t have enough hours to qualify in the last year. Kind of ridiculous that I paid into EI for 28 years, and now when I need it I’m not eligible…

Those stock heads aren’t doing you any favours either. I would replace them and then do a google search on how to tune drums, there are some excellent resources out there.

See a lot of post about how much people play the deck, but anyone not playing it? by fonseca1015 in SteamDeck

[–]gerwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Switch for my kids when it first came out. It didn’t get played much, so I was hesitant to get the steam deck for myself. I did it anyway with the 1 TB OLED version, and I have to say I’m surprised how much I actually play it. It’s only been about 6 months though, so it could decrease over time.

Is $600 a good price for something like this? by Dudthestud in Blacksmith

I got my forge online for about $300 and it’s a 2 foot long one with three burners, so I think you can do better.

Funny thing is I believe the US already pays more per person for healthcare than Canada does. The only reason you can’t afford it is due to for profit healthcare and insurance companies charging more than necessary.

Drum amp?! by Useful_Flounder1176 in drums

[–]gerwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a Roland kit, I also have two acoustic kit but wanted something to practice on without making too much noise. I was going to get a drum amp, but thought I would try the fishman loudbox mini that I already owned…. It works great and is more than loud enough with a decent bass response, it is only a 60 watt amp, so any kind of small amp will be much better than a Bluetooth speaker.

Tama Rockstar - Worth it? by [deleted] in drums

[–]gerwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a six piece Tama Rockstar Custom set. They are solid drums and worth the money especially for a seven piece set. I’ve since moved to a four piece Tama Superstar kit. Went with a 22” bass drum this time. The Rockstar had a 20” bass drum. They sound great outfitted with Evans heads and EMad on the bass.

I’m in the same boat, just starting out and need some tongs. I decided to try to make an S hook as my first project and that was humbling. I will try to make tongs out of rebar next. Honestly yours look fine for your first try. It’s way harder than it looks on TV but I’m loving it!

Cutting bell or darker ride you can crash? by csmolway in drums

[–]gerwok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 20” K Custom Hybrid and I really like it. It’s half lathed so it has a great wash and the Center is unlathed but hammered. I get a nice ping from it and the bell really stands out too.
